Amazing experience. Tourguide LG had a lot of knowledge about Malaysia and the spots visited. Felt safe and welcome. Tour itself was also great! Highly recommend!

Viator Tours. Excellent service. Punctual and kept us well informed. Small group only 7, bonus a small air conditioned van with smoke room. Extremely efficient driver. Wilson was our guide and excellent English and extremely knowledgeable. Around 90 minute trip. The added bonus on this tour which I didn’t know until the day. It starts with a visit to the Monkeys on the mountain with spectacular views. Remnants of the old castle and light house that is still operating. As we were a small group we were driven all the way to the top and needed no walking. Truly a great experience. Then off to dinner in the river at a local restaurant. The food was good and plentiful. No alcohol sold but you may purchase from the local bottle shop and the it in. The restaurant sits on the river with great views of the sunset. We were blessed with no rain. After dinner off to the river port for our fireflies experience. We had a comfortable speed boat with a very experienced driver. How he missed all the logs a rubbish was amazing. In total darkness we cruised along the mangroves and watched the fireflies come alive like twinkling Christmas Trees. In silence and serenity you saw Mother Nature do her thing. What an experience. Then a fast ride to another section of the river to see the Blue Tears. Wow wow wow. I just wasn’t sure what we would see. Then again Mother Nature doing her thing. Brings the algae alive in luminous blue. We stop and are given poles to stir up the water and like magic the water lights up. Breathtaking. It looked like blue lights had been turned on beneath the water. Again in total darkness. It didn’t end there. The boat then speeds along the river swerving into the algae with the entire boat and wake surrounded in luminous blue. Amazing photos and videos. But trust me no photos or videos can do it justice unless you see it for yourself. Highly recommended this tour. Viator you earned my ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️s. Thank you for a memorable evening.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for taking the time to share such a detailed account of your experience with us. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the small-group setting, comfortable transportation, and the beautiful sights at Bukit Melawati before the evening activities. It's especially rewarding to know that Wilson helped make your journey memorable with his knowledge, professionalism, and excellent service. We will be sure to pass along your kind words to him. We're also pleased that you enjoyed the riverside dinner, the firefly cruise, and the magical Blue Tears experience. As you mentioned, these natural wonders can be difficult to capture in photos, and there's nothing quite like seeing them in person under the night sky. Thank you for highlighting the efforts of both our guide and boat crew in ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience throughout the evening. We truly appreciate your recommendation and your 5-star rating. It was our pleasure to host you, and we hope to welcome you back for another memorable adventure in Malaysia in the future. Warm regards, The Team
Scam Alert!!! Missed every single marks, no hotel pickup, no fireflies, no blue tears, no nothing. Claimed hotel pickup was replaced by a meeting point near Dang Wangi metro station. Also, for me drop off is a different hotel because the choice pf hotel is limited. We visited an Indian temple and a monkey hill before the firefly; not sure what’s the point, and at monkey hill we were forced to pay extra 10 ringgit that was not mentioned before. The restaurant that the guide took us there was extremely overpriced, obviously. The highlighted we saw fireflies was FAKED. All of them are in the same size and blinking in the same frequency on the branches, just like the light bulbs that installed on the Christmas tree. The blue tears are NOT BLUE, we were each given a net that we need to fish out for those glowing planktons, and all we saw was a glimpse of scares whiteish planktons that no where near the color of blue. Avoid this tour at all costs!!!
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify a few points for future travelers. Hotel pickup is available only from selected hotels within our designated pickup zones, and alternative meeting points are clearly stated for locations outside those areas. Likewise, drop-off locations are subject to the options listed during the booking process. The stop at the temple and Bukit Melawati (Monkey Hill) is part of the published itinerary and is included to showcase some of the cultural and historical highlights of the area before the evening firefly and bioluminescence activities. The entrance fee for Bukit Melawati is managed by the local authority and is specified in the tour details where applicable. Regarding the fireflies and bioluminescence, these are natural phenomena that vary from day to day depending on weather, tide conditions, moonlight, and environmental factors. We can assure readers that the fireflies observed during the tour are entirely natural and not artificial. The appearance of bioluminescent plankton can also differ significantly from photos and may appear as white, blue, or bluish-white flashes depending on viewing conditions. We appreciate your comments regarding the restaurant stop. While meal venues are selected based on convenience and local availability, we understand that pricing perceptions may vary among guests. We value all feedback and continuously work with our partners and guides to improve the overall experience for our visitors.
I had a fantastic time on this tour. LG was a great tour guide. He was kind, patient, and very informative. He shared background and history on Malaysia was able to answer all of our questions as well as give recommendations for dinner. The monkeys were a delight and we had a chance to feed and interact with them before heading to the fishing village. The fireflies brought back childhood memories for me. I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting KL and wanting to do something a little out of the box and nature focused.
Thank you for the fantastic review! We’re especially happy to hear that LG made your experience even more enjoyable. We’ll be sure to share your kind comments with the team. Hope to see you again soon!
Overall, this tour was good primarily because of our out outstanding tour guide, Patrick. He was attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. Comfortable vehicle. The highlight of the trip was the stop at Altingsburg Lighthouse on Bukit Melawati in Kuala Selangor. The view was great but the silver monkeys and macaques were super interesting and definitely a highlight of the tour. The stop at the:BrihadisvaraTemple provided a nice break in the drive and was a beautiful site. Awesome carvings. Dinner at Yang Ming Seafood Restaurant on the river was outstanding. Great selection of fresh fish at a very reasonable price. The intended highlights of this tour- the fireflies and blue tears were less than highlights as there were minimal synchronized flashes and the blue tears were difficult to appreciate. Despite this, the experience was definitely worth the price as the rest of the tour was very enjoyable and we would not have seen these things without the tour.
Blue Tear Kuala Selangor sounds like a magical experience! 🌊 It's a natural phenomenon where bioluminescent plankton light up the water, creating a stunning display of blue tears. Reviews rave about the experience, with many praising the guides, like Sasi, who make the tour unforgettable. Visitors enjoy the combination of fireflies, blue tears, and a delicious seafood dinner ¹. *Top Spots for Blue Tears:* - _Selangor River, Kuala Selangor_: A 1-hour drive from KL, perfect for spotting blue tears and fireflies - _Bagan Datuk, Perak_: A quaint coastal town with beautiful beaches and stunning sunsets - _Pulau Sembilan, Perak_: A hidden gem for snorkeling and spotting marine life - _Tusan Beach, Miri, Sarawak_: A breathtaking beach with fossils and
The entire experience beginning to end was amazing. Being a solo traveling female it is nice to be able to have be around people you can trust! Simon did just that he made sure the group knew how long we were going to be in each location and made sure we all had everything we needed the entire trip! If you’re considering booking with this company don’t make the mistake of passing on it! 10/10
The guide was very good. But the activity itself is overrated. Very few fireflies can be seen and the blue tears are much less blue than those shown in the photos. Perhaps the photos should be reviewed because they do not reflect reality.
