Fantastic trip to Pompeii and Vesuvius We had an excellent experience with Claudia as a guide and a talented driver. From the start we felt safe and received very well. The small group made the whole trip calm and clear, and everything slipped easily. Claudia was passionate, present and made history alive – one of the best guides we’ve ever met. A trip we can highly recommend.
We booked this tour before travelling, on the suggestion of our hotel. Tour leader Lucia was brilliant and gave us interesting information about the places we would visit while en route, so the journey time felt short. The coach driver handled the Amalfi coast road very carefully. No queues at Pompei or Vesuvius. Lucia's tour of Pompei was excellent. You need change for the toilets at the entrance of Pompei (50 cents). We stopped at a hotel near Pompei for lunch and thought the deal offered was very reasonable (18 Euro for a main meal and drink). The skies cleared for a good view into the crater of Vesuvius. The free toilets at the entrance of Vesuvius are best avoided (bring paper and hand sanitiser). Overall highly recommend the tour.
We loved our guide Lucia and the tour was so informative. 2 hours walking tour was just right to see the salient parts of Pompeii which the guide described and to give us a scale of the place. The bus ride was air conditioned and comfortable and took us all along the coast in different directions for the outward and homeward part (our pickup was Amalfi - driver great ). One caveat : the lunch stop trapped tourists into an obligatory sub quality restaurant between Pompeii and Vesuvius with no other eating choices but thankfully we’d brought picnic and sat outside so would advise others to do the same as our fellow tourists felt a bit conned ! Also bring sneakers for trek up to Vesuvius crater in the afternoon as it’s gravelly (hike is optional as bus goes almost all the way up apart from last steep mile or so but it’s well worth it ! Again this was not made clear in the instructions - we wore walking sandals which were fine for Pompeii and turns out we were able to leave stuff on bus as necessary. Otherwise a throughly amazing day !
Alessandra , our tour leader was fantastic . Very knowledgeable , professional , personable. Her passion for the subject was contagious!!
This experience was interesting and informative. Our guide (Paula) was entertaining and knowledgable. It was a beautiful drive and our driver was awesome (Carmine).
Brilliant tour, well organised, on time, clear instructions throughout, excellent driver for the notoriously bendy Amalfi coast. Alessandra the tour guide was brilliant, adaptive, knowledgeable, found the shade and kept us organised and informed, truely passionate about history and culture. Feedback for future is maybe restrict the age of children, Pompeii is to be respected and younger children unless well behaved will get bored and touch when they shouldn’t, plenty of warning was given not to touch the ruins. It gets very hot round Pompeii with limited toilets and water refills once in the tour. Mount Vesuvius is worth doing for the views and history but is steep, gets hot and is a loose gravel like path, not for young children or people with mobility difficulties. Long day out but definitely worth it.
After a slight issue (our fault) the tour company was able to re-schedule us on the same tour for another day. That was really appreciated! We had an amazing tour of Pompeii with our guide followed by a most delicious lunch and then onto Mount Vesuvius for a great hike to the summit. Highly recommend this tour.
Class tour guide and organization. Great driver and very good guide ! We got a lot of information and it was all explained understandably . Get back now!
The tour of Pompeii and Vesuvius was generally excellent. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Although the weather wasn't ideal to start with, the visit to Pompeii was excellent & informative. After a short lunch break it was back on the coach(very professional driver) for the drive to Vesuvius visitor point. We had just enough time to make the fairly long walk(climb) up to see the Volcano from the best vantage point. The journey back to our starting point completed a memorable day.
This tour states that if your pick up is north of Amalfi, you will need to make your own way back from Amalfi. However, until you get there you do not realise that getting a bus from Amalfi involves a long wait in line and taxis are very expensive. Plus the pick ups along the coast add almost 2 hours in the morning. The guide was good, pompeii interesting and Vesuvius was ok. The stop at the jewellery factory was unnecessary.
