Not what I was expecting but still a great experience. It was a private tour which included a tour around casa de campo before touring altos de chavon. Also included a museum tour and photos on top of a donkey
I’m giving this tour five stars for the incredible scenery alone. The high-altitude views of the river provide world-class photography opportunities that make the trip worth every penny. Additionally, the museum presentation was excellent and very well-delivered. My only minor gripe is the timing; we departed at 8:00 AM and were back by 11:30 AM. It felt a bit short for a "half-day" excursion, but the quality of the sights more than made up for the quick pace. If you're looking for stunning shots and a bit of history, don't miss it!
Beautiful half day tour into the Highly Exclusive & Affluent Gated Community of Casa de Campo frequented by many celebrities. Our tour guide Alex was very knowledgeable and courteous showing us around. We saw beautiful views of the River, walked around all the exclusive shops and even rode a donkey! The amphitheater was amazing (felt like we were in Rome or Greece!) and the church was also very pretty. Great photo ops around every corner! Really beautiful and something different to do aside from beach & action parks.
Very impressive place. Really enjoyed seeing this place and Alex the guide was very informative. Was supposed to be a half day tour but took a good hour longer than it should have done and not back at hotel until 3pm due to other tourists being inconsiderate being late for bus, wanting to go to a money exchange and taking longer than they should at the different attractions! But this was not excursion people’s fault although we had booked the trip for the Saturday and moved it a day early to probably accommodate these selfish people!
The tour was excellent. From the moment Alex picked us up at the hotel, he provided information and explained the history of the place. The views along the route were breathtaking. The museum and staff were incredibly friendly. Alex is an excellent tour guide.
Altos de Chavón completely exceeded my expectations. The views and atmosphere were even more stunning than the photos online. Our tour guide, Alex, was incredibly knowledgeable and professional, which made the experience even more enjoyable. This is definitely a must-see if you’re in the area!
I bought a tour to see altos de chavon. But last minute yesterday I got text from Breidy Solano about adding me to the group, who had additional cave stop...I didnt mind, but group of 4 (very nice people) came from Spain with no english...the driver and tour guy (same person) was speaking mostly their language, answered my questions when I asked...I assume it was private tour? I specifically put English...they were talking, laughing all away and its great, but I had to sit and listen conversation not understanding a word...we made it to lunch and he asked if I want to continue to altos de chavon, because other 4 people decided to return back because of rain...what he would expect me to say? No, i want to continue? Of course I said ok, and we came back to the hotel not to get to the place I really hoped to see...I dont understand why they put me on Spanish tour if I dont know it? Not a company i want to travel with...
We had a wonderful day visiting Altos de Chavón and Cueva de las Maravillas. Both places are absolutely worth seeing – beautiful, interesting, and very well organized. What really made this experience special, though, was our guide. He put so much effort into making the day enjoyable for everyone. He was incredibly friendly, funny, and attentive, and took the time to answer all of our questions. We always felt well taken care of, and he was very flexible in adapting to our wishes throughout the day. It’s rare to find someone who is not only professional, but also genuinely passionate about what they do – and that really showed. He also offers more individual and personalized tours around the island, which I find especially exciting. Next time we are in the Dominican Republic, I will definitely book a more customized experience with him to explore even more of the culture and hidden gems of the island. Thank you again for such a great day – highly recommended!
The experience was fun, views was beautiful and Alex was a great guide 10/10 We will be back again 😊
Great experience! Our tour guide, Alex was very knowledgeable. He even threw in a few extras at the end that weren’t part of original itinerary.
