The tour was ok but nothing to write home about. It was more of a city tour with a stop for lunch then it was an actual food tour. The descriptions were a bit misleading as well. For example, the visit to Rahat chocolate factory was just a walk through a store where we could buy chocolate if we wanted to. There was no taste testing or sampling there. We did a few samplings at the Green market and then ate at a restaurant but that was all. For almost $500, we expected much more. Our tour guide was really sweet though and we learned a lot. I would recommend this tour to learn about the history and culture of Almaty. But if you're wanting a food tour, pass on this one. Stop by the Green Market and have a meal at Bauyrdaq yourself. You'll have the same experience for hundreds of dollars less.
Dear Christina, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for your kind words about my guiding! It was a pleasure hosting your family on this private tour. I really enjoyed the engaging conversations and insightful questions from your husband, and it was especially wonderful to see your children's curiosity when they were asking all those great questions about Genghis Khan! Regarding the Rahat factory, while strict safety regulations prevent public access to the production floor, visiting the flagship store is an iconic Almaty experience. I was more than happy to treat your family to some of their famous chocolates so you could taste the local favorites, but I will certainly make sure our tour description clarifies the nature of the store visit for future guests. You mentioned that someone could replicate this experience on their own, but the true value of our private food tour lies in the curation and storytelling. At our pre-booked restaurant, I specifically selected a carefully balanced variety of dishes that a first-time visitor might not know to order together. Sharing the unique history, cultural significance, and interpretation behind every single dish is what turns a regular lunch into a true cultural immersion. We always ensure our guests are treated to an abundance of food, which is why the restaurant staff gladly packed up all your delicious leftovers for your family to take and enjoy later! This specific tour format has always been incredibly popular and loved by the many families we’ve hosted, precisely because it offers a flexible, stress-free experience. Navigating the bustling Green Bazaar, translating, and most importantly, adjusting our pace on the go so your children could comfortably sit and rest when they felt tired, are all part of the dedicated service we provide to our family guests. We parted on such a warm, positive note, and I will always remember our day together fondly. I wish you and your family all the best in your future travels! Warm regards, Gulzat

Gulzat is an excellent guide and a great travel companion. Very friendly, communicative, with a great command of English and Russian, with profound knowledge of culture and history. She was very helpful to organize a traditional dinner with folk music for our group of 30 people. Excellent service! Very professional in her business conduct. I recommend her services without any hesitations. Dear Gulzat, it was my pleasure to meet you and I hope our paths are going to cross again. Thank you!
We booked a walking tour with Gulzat for the start of our 10-day holiday in Kazakhstan and it was a great call. Gulzat showed us a lot of Almaty's history as we walked through the beautiful park, helped us buy various items to try at the Green Bazaar, and introduced us to so many delicious Kazakh dishes over a bountiful lunch. Thanks Gulzat for setting us up for a great trip in your gorgeous country!
