Itinerary

10 min

Plaza de los Luceros is one of Alicante’s main squares, known for its elegant central fountain with sculpted horses and figures. It’s a key meeting point and the heart of local celebrations — especially during festivals when it fills with fireworks and crowds. Open, lively, and very much part of the city’s rhythm.

10 min

Casa de les Bruixes (“House of the Witches”) is one of Alicante’s most curious buildings, known for its dark, eclectic style and mysterious name. With Gothic touches and unusual details, it stands out from the surrounding architecture. Not actually linked to witches, the nickname comes from its eerie appearance — adding a bit of legend to the city streets.

10 min

Plaza de Gabriel Miró is one of Alicante’s most charming squares — a shaded oasis filled with tall ficus trees and a romantic fountain at its center. Named after the writer Gabriel Miró, it feels calm and slightly nostalgic, surrounded by elegant buildings and quiet cafés. A perfect place to slow down and escape the city’s heat.

10 min

Real Liceo Casino de Alicante is a historic social club founded in the 19th century, located near the city center. Its elegant interior features grand halls, chandeliers, and classic décor, reflecting Alicante’s bourgeois past. Still active today, it hosts cultural events and gatherings — refined, traditional, and a glimpse into another era.

10 min

Explanada de España is Alicante’s most iconic promenade, lined with palm trees and paved in a colorful wave-pattern mosaic of millions of tiles. Running along the harbor, it’s perfect for strolling, with cafés, street performers, and a constant sea breeze. Relaxed, lively, and unmistakably Mediterranean.

10 min

Casa Carbonell is one of Alicante’s most elegant buildings, standing at the start of the Explanada de España. Built in the 1920s, it features a bright white façade with French-inspired details — balconies, towers, and decorative touches. It was created as a luxury residence and still feels refined and prominent, facing the sea with quiet confidence.

10 min

Queen’s Staircase is a steep stone stairway carved into rock, offering dramatic views over the sea and coastline. Originally built for access between levels, today it’s more about the scenery and atmosphere — a short climb with a rewarding panorama at the top.

10 min

Bust of Captain Archibald Dickson honors the captain of the ship Stanbrook, who in 1939 rescued nearly 3,000 Spanish refugees by taking them from Alicante to safety in Algeria during the final days of the Spanish Civil War. Modest in form but powerful in meaning, the monument commemorates courage, humanity, and one of the city’s most moving acts of rescue.

10 min

Postiguet Beach is Alicante’s main urban beach, stretching right beside the city center and under Santa Bárbara Castle. With soft sand, calm waters, and a lively promenade, it’s perfect for a quick swim or a sunset walk. Easy, accessible, and always buzzing — it’s the city’s seaside living room.

Pass by

Santa Bárbara Castle towers above Alicante on Mount Benacantil, offering some of the best views on the coast. Dating back to medieval times with earlier origins, it features stone walls, towers, and open courtyards layered across different levels. You can walk up or take a lift — but either way, the panorama over the sea and city is the real reward. Historic, dramatic, and unmistakably Alicante.

10 min

MUBAG (Museo de Bellas Artes Gravina) is Alicante’s main fine arts museum, housed in an elegant 18th-century palace. Its collection focuses on Spanish and Valencian art from the 16th to early 20th centuries. Calm, well-curated, and free to enter — it’s a quiet cultural pause in the city center.

Pass by

Basílica de Santa María is Alicante’s oldest church, built in the 14th–16th centuries on the site of a former mosque. Its Gothic structure contrasts with a richly decorated Baroque façade, full of sculptural detail. Inside, it’s calm and historic — simple stone, quiet light, and centuries of layered faith.

10 min

MACA (Alicante Museum of Contemporary Art) is a sleek museum set inside a restored historic building near Santa María Basilica. It houses works by artists like Dalí, Miró, and Picasso, alongside contemporary Spanish art. Minimalist inside, historic outside — a strong contrast that works.

10 min

Plaza de la Santísima Faz is a small, historic square in Alicante’s old town, located beside the Basilica of Santa María. Quiet and slightly hidden, it’s a peaceful spot surrounded by stone façades and local life. Simple, authentic, and full of old-city atmosphere.

10 min

Alicante City Hall (Ayuntamiento de Alicante) is a grand 18th-century Baroque building in the old town, near the waterfront. Its symmetrical façade, twin towers, and elegant details give it a formal, stately presence. Inside, there are historic rooms and artworks — but even from outside, it stands as a symbol of the city’s civic pride.

10 min

Cocatedral de San Nicolás de Bari is Alicante’s main cathedral, built in the 17th century in a calm Renaissance style. Its standout feature is the blue-domed ceiling, rising simply but elegantly above the interior. Less ornate than other Spanish cathedrals, it feels balanced and peaceful — quietly impressive rather than overwhelming.

10 min

Rambla de Méndez Núñez is one of Alicante’s main streets, connecting the old town with the modern city. Lined with shops, cafés, and local life, it’s always busy — especially during festivals and parades. Straightforward, lively, and central to the city’s daily rhythm.

Pass by

Museu de les Fogueres is dedicated to Alicante’s famous Hogueras festival, where giant artistic figures are burned each June. Inside, you’ll see saved sculptures (ninots), photos, and stories behind the tradition. Colorful, creative, and deeply local — it captures the spirit of fire and celebration.

10 min

Mercat Central is Alicante’s main food market, housed in an elegant early 20th-century building. Inside, it’s full of fresh seafood, meats, fruits, and local products, with a lively, authentic atmosphere. Busy, colorful, and very local — it’s everyday Alicante at its best.

10 min

Barrio de Santa Cruz is Alicante’s most picturesque neighborhood, climbing the hillside beneath Santa Bárbara Castle. Narrow whitewashed streets, colorful flowers, and tiny houses create a village-like feel. It’s quiet, charming, and perfect for wandering — Alicante at its most intimate.

5 min

La caseta dels cossiols blaus is a tiny, picture-perfect house in Barrio de Santa Cruz, famous for its bright blue flower pots lining the white façade. It’s one of the most photographed spots in the neighborhood — simple, colorful, and full of Mediterranean charm.

5 min

Mirador de la Santa Cruz is one of Alicante’s best viewpoints, perched above the Barrio de Santa Cruz. After a short but steep walk, you’re rewarded with panoramic views over the old town, harbor, and sea. Simple, open, and breathtaking — especially at sunset.

Convenient and works offline

The guide feels really human: the stories are clearly written by someone who knows Alicante well and cares about how the city feels, not just about listing facts. You get nice little details and practical hints. Plus it works offline, so you won't get lost with its built in map
