Alhambra Private Tour from Port of Motril

Javier was in communication with us the day before and the morning of our tour. The information made us feel very comfortable and stress free. Alberto was our tour guide in Alhambra and he was amazing. The historical information and stories he shared were well paced and entertaining. He always made sure we had whatever we needed. He is very personable and set the bar high for all our future tours.

We booked this private tour during our cruise stop, and it was hands-down the highlight of our entire trip to Spain. If you are on a tight schedule but want a high-quality, stress-free experience, this is the way to do it. Our driver, Santiago, met us right at the port as soon as we disembarked. He was incredibly professional, polite, and navigating the roads flawlessly. The vehicle was clean and very comfortable. Knowing we had a strict ship departure time can be stressful, but Santiago’s punctuality completely erased any worry. He got us to the Alhambra safely and had us back at the port with time to spare. When we arrived, we met our private guide, Fernando. He was absolutely fantastic and had all the tickets ready and explained the entry process. His depth of knowledge about the history, architecture, and legends of the Alhambra was deeply impressive. Because it was a private tour, Fernando tailored the pace perfectly to us, navigating the crowded areas seamlessly so we could get the best views and photos. He brought the entire palace and gardens to life in a way a large group tour never could. To make the day even better, we wrapped up our touring with a wonderful meal at a restaurant located right near the Alhambra grounds. The food was excellent, authentic, and perfectly timed before Santiago picked us back up for our return ride. Highly Recommended! An absolute 5-star experience from start to finish. We went on this private tour to the Alhambra with high expectations as we expected it to be our last chance to visit due to illnesses and high age (my mother is 89-year old and needs a wheelchair) and were therefore very picky with choosing a tour operator. Here, our communication beforehand was easy, reassuring and questions always prompted instantaneous answers. On the day of the tour, we were even greeted by Javi who made sure we‘d found our driver right where we should have, i.e. right beside the cruise ship. As requested, we got a German speaking guide in the person of Maarten, who was not only perfectly fluent in German, but perhaps also the most knowledgeable guide I‘ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. He found a way to convey his knowledge of history, religion and architecture in an interesting manner for everyone, putting things into new perspectives for us, making sure we made the most of our time, and even my mother enjoyed herself immensely and didn‘t find the tour too taxing. He really made our day unforgettable and the whole tour worth every cent. This was everything we‘d hoped for and more, recommended for everyone a thousand times over, if you‘re looking for someone reliable, knowledgeable and experienced.

Javi was very knowledgeable, accommodating and has a real passion for what he does! He was able to make transportation arrangements from a port further away and the driver he found was great. All in all this tour with Javi was excellent and we highly recommend!!

This was a great experience. The driver picked us up promptly at the cruise ship dock in Motril and dropped us off where our guide was waiting. She was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the Alhambra and clearly very experienced. Two of our party had mobility issues so she immediately adjusted our tour to ensure that we could see everything. At the end she arranged lunch for us and contacted our driver who drove us home through beautiful southern Spain. It was a wonderful day surpassing our expectations.

Javi was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable, very understandable, very organized. He was clever enough to start us at the top, the summer palace of the Alhambra and walk us through the various aspects of the castle and grounds, so there was very little uphill. This was particularly important for my spouse who has a weak knee. He was very patient with our slow movement. He had been recommended by some friends who had used his services several months before and were also very impressed.

Everything worked as hoped for by my wife and myself. We were on an Oceania cruise and were only in Port one short day but our #1 goal for the day was to see Alhambra. Tours de Lao a Lao connected with us shortly after booking our private tour for the two of us. They arranged earlier tickets than were shown on the TripAdvisor website so we were able to start out early and not fret about missing the departure of the ship. Driver was both punctual and pleasant and picked us up in a nice Mercedes van. The guide met us at the entry to Alhambra on time and took us through this spectacular not-to-miss historic site. Her knowledge was thorough and interesting. Highly recommend.

Javier is a superb tour guide! We had originally signed up to tour the Alhambra with a larger group who cancelled on us, and we were scrambling to find alternative arrangements. From my first inquiries, Javier was responsive, knowledgeable, and courteous in all of his answers. At that point, tickets to the Alhambra were already sold out, and Javi was very honest that he could not guarantee that he could get tickets, but he promised to try. I very much appreciated his honesty, and decided to go with him anyway. Indeed, Javi was able to source the tickets a few days before our date, and it was a fantastic day. The driver he engaged was on-time and courteous, and Javier himself is knowledgeable, personable, and extremely organized. We had an excellent tour of the Generalife as well as the Alhambra itself, and Javier made it one of the highlights of our vacation! In particular, I very much appreciated how conscious he was of my parents age and mobility limitations. While my parents are in fantastic shape for their early eighties, my father can have issues with stairs and it was quite a bit of walking by the end of the tour. Javi was able to suggest alternative routes, bathroom accomodations, and breaks that made the tour much more manageable and enjoyable for them. In case you're as vacation photo-obsessed as my parents, Javi is also an excellent photographer. :) All in all, Javier is one of the best tour guides that we've hired over the years, and would recommend him to anyone interested in touring the Alhambra and Granada, and we look forward to reaching out to him the next time we're in the area!

From the moment the driver picked us up at the dock until we returned this was very special. Jose the driver was courteous and drove safely. We met Javier (our guide) at entrance to Alhambra. He was knowledgeable and professional with great story to tell. We were there as a couple so really enjoyed the entire day. Highly recommend the experience and safety
