Itinerary
At 7:00 am, we will pick you up from your hotel and head straight to Alexandria, where we will spend the next two and a half hours traveling by highway to get to our starting point "Kom El Shoqafa" in Alexandria. Kom El Shoqafa contains a collection of tombs, statues, and archaeological artifacts associated with the Pharaonic funeral mortuary cults and Hellenistic and early Imperial Roman influences. Because of the time, many of the characteristics of Kom El Shoqafa's catacombs combine Roman, Greek, and Egyptian cultural points; some statues are Egyptian in style but wear Roman clothes and hairstyles, while others share a similar style. A circular staircase descends into the tombs tunneled into the bedrock during the Antonine emperors' reign. (2nd century AD)From the 2nd to the 4th centuries, the building was used as a burial chamber before being rediscovered in 1900.
It will be the secondary attraction. The Pompey Pillar's moniker is deceptive. Gaius Pompey, a Roman general, and consul, was a rival of Julius Caesar in a civil war and was assassinated by a Ptolemaic pharaoh in 48 BC as he escaped to Alexandria. This single column, perched on a rocky hilltop in the center of Alexandria, has nothing to do with him. Crusaders believed his grave was marked by a 100-foot (30-meter) red Aswan granite pillar, which is how this tale started. The pillar is a triumphal monument built for the Roman Emperor Diocletian in 300 AD. During the visit, the site will be admired from the outside only, making it an ideal stop without requiring entrance fees. The real importance of this archaeological site lies in what was before the pillar: the Serapeum, Alexandria's acropolis.
The third stop will be this. In Alexandria, Egypt, on the Mediterranean Sea the coast, stands the 15th-century defensive fortress known as the Citadel of Qaitbay or the Fort of Qaitbay. In 1477 AD (882 AH), Sultan Al-Ashraf Sayf al-Din Qa'it Bay founded it. The Citadel is located at the mouth of the Eastern Harbour on the eastern edge of Pharos Island's northern tip.
next, We will visit The world's largest library: "Bibliotheca Alexandrina", which currently has 8 million Books. Visit its open court to see the statues of Ptolemy the First and Alexander the Great, Which were both discovered close underwater. You will go to "The President Saddat Museum" and the "Alexandria Museum" of Impressions. Please note that the Alexandria Library is closed on Fridays, Saturdays, and legal holidays. You will need to buy a ticket to access the reading section. Finally, we will travel to the beginning location for around 2.5 hours on the highway. Please note that the Alexandria Library is closed on Fridays. However, if we choose to visit on a Friday, we can still take photos in front of it.
Lastly, The Roman Amphitheatre is one of Alexandria's most popular monuments. This is Egypt's second most important city, after the capital, Cairo. While the amphitheaters were spread through different countries like Greece, Italy, and Turkey during the reign of the Romans with many examples of these structures still present in many regions around Europe and the Middle East, the Roman Amphitheatre of Alexandria is the only one of

Eslam gave us a lot of information about the history of Alexandria. To my surprise the library was not the Highlight of the day but the incredible catacomb. Definitely worth a visit.
Thank you for the review, and thank you for that day. I hope to see you next time.

Mahmoud the driver 5 stars. 6 stars! He was Amazing. Our tour guide Eslam Maher tho.. not so much. It was a disaster story, from the moment he opened my door without knocking on the window or anything mid traffic. Up until we canceled our last site to see. This man was a nightmare. First we went into the catacombs. Where at first Eslam was guiding us properly. That quickly changed. He started making jokes such as “Jump from this window to that window it’s a tradition.” He was referring to the pit where bodies are transported down. I actually thought that was somewhat funny. Until it continued. While showing us a display of bones I was paying attention but my wife was looking at the wall behind us. He called her by her name with a rude tone “Aerianne PAY ATTENTION!” She instantly corrected him and told him if she wishes to glance into another direction briefly she will do so. I also corrected him telling him it was disrespectful. He apologized and said “It is different culture and I didn’t mean it.” Implying in his culture women must always pay attention when being spoken to. He asked me what he did wrong. I explained that my wife isn’t going to follow every single word he’s saying from start to finish and from time to time will tune in and out and back in again.. I explained further that he is being too controlling and demanding every ounce of attention. He laid off a bit after that. Only to follow it up with an explanation and apology at every single stop we made. Like as if us mentioning kindly to not be so pushy, was plaguing him the entire rest of the tour. He constantly looked upset and wouldn’t drop it. More jokes were being made at the Alexandria Library. “Oh Marlon I make you mad so I go home now and meet with my girlfriend.” “This is the train station of Alexandria, I will use it to go home now because I make a mistake.” We didn’t not find that funny. I told him I was not mad at him and that he already corrected his mistake. He wouldn’t let it go. Then we got to the 3rd stop to eat where Eslam started brown nosing. Attempting to make up for it all by constantly getting up from the table and harassing the waitstaff for our food and for drink refills. Going up to the expo line and talking to the cooks through the window. Our server and the manager seemed so annoyed. We didn’t ask for that. We would have waited patiently. We canceled the tour early to head back to Cairo. As Mahmoud was pulling up the car Eslam pleaded and begged me not to leave a review as this would be his 3rd and final complaint before losing his job… guilt tripping me on top of it all. My wife was fed up and so was I. Once we returned home our agent contacted us saying Mahmoud mentioned we didn’t have a good time. We explained all of the above just to receive a message from Eslam saying we are liars. I think the man needs some serious social skill development. I speak for both my wife and I, our trip to Alexandria was absolutely ruined by this man.
