The Bibliotheca Alexandrina — also known as the Library of Alexandria — is a world-renowned library and cultural landmark located on the Mediterranean coast in the historic city of Alexandria, Egypt. Sultan Abu al-Nasr Sayf al-Din al-Ashraf Qaitbay (c. 1416/1418 – August 7, 1496) was the eighteenth Sultan of the Burji Mamluks. Born Circassian, he was purchased by Sultan Barsbay and later freed by Sultan Jaqmaq. During his reign, he stabilized the Mamluk state and strengthened its northern borders against the Ottomans. Though he led numerous military campaigns, Qaitbay is best remembered for his architectural patronage, leaving his mark on Mecca, Medina, Jerusalem, Damascus, Aleppo, Alexandria, and Cairo.

We had a great day in Alexandria. Everything was well organized and smooth from start to finish. The guide was friendly and very knowledgeable about Egyptian history, which made the visit to the ancient sites much more interesting. Transportation was comfortable and on time.
