Itinerary
The Ethnographic Museum at Addis Ababa University is housed in the former palace of Emperor Haile Selassie.
Here, we will visit the skeleton of one of our oldest hominid ancestors, Lucy, who lived 3.2 million years ago!
In the morning, we'll climb up to Mount Entoto through the eucalyptus trees, and see spectacular views of Addis Ababa from above.While on Mount Entoto, we will also visit Entoto Maryam Church, the original palace of Emperor Menelik II.
We will stop briefly by St. George Church on our way to Merkato!
After Holy Trinity, we will then visit the crypt of Emperor Menelik, who is buried with his wife and daughter, at the tranquil Bata Miriam church.
We finish the day at the bustling Merkato, the largest open-air market in Africa!

Daniel was an incredibly good tour guide. He tailored the tour to what I was interested in exploring. He is very knowledgeable on the historical facts, plus he gave me a little parting gift. I really appreciate his dedication.
Daniel and his driver friend Ahati did a wonderful job of guiding me through the city, slowing down to allow me to get pictures of monuments and adding in a museum (the Red Terror Museum) at my request. Daniel had good knowledge of the content without being too overwhelming. Communication was good and they even arrived at my hotel early. I totally recommend this tour as a time efficient way to visit the most important sites of Addis Ababa as navigating the traffic on your own would be difficult as a visitor.

What an amazing day in Addis Abbaba. Daniel was able to arrange for me to visit the cellar in the Mariam Church were I could view some amazing artifacts. His knowledge of the area is first class, he speaks excellent English and I highly recommend his services!
