Incredible experience thanks to our amazing guides Pablo and Gilberto. Very accommodating, knowledgeable and friendly. Carlos who brought our items was fantastic also!
Absolutely incredible experience. Pablo and Gilberto were extremely accommodating and excellent guides! Carlos was super, carrying our items.
Pablo and Gil were excellent guides, as well as Carlos, who was attentive to us the entire time. Telling stories and sharing interesting facts. The food was delicious and fresh. The view of the volcano was spectacular. Great experience!!!
We (2 friends) had inquired by email beforehand for a private guide for the 2 of us, got confirmation and booked. What a surprise to get there in the morning of the hike and find a huge crowd waiting. Well, it turns out we would walk in a group of 14! Disappointment at that moment, but no option for us not to go. Luckily they all were nice and all in good shape & spirits! The trip was organised very well, and our guides Angie, Angel and Beanie were super! Watching Fuego was quite spectacular. The summit approach is rather demanding but the view rewarding. Unfortunately mass tourism up there. Our advice: bring your own WARM sleeping bag or you are sure to freeze! It was a great experience. Communication in the correspondence could be improved. Cheers to our 3 great guides!
We had an amazing trip made even more special by our amazing guide Angie who looked after us in a very thoughtful and caring way, even giving us coffee at 6am on the top of Acatenango. She was a truly special person.
My husband and I had an unforgettable experience with Old Town Outfitters hiking and camping overnight at base camp before summiting the Acatenango volcano. The company was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. Safety was clearly a top priority. We were in a small group of twelve guests with two knowledgeable guides, which made the hike feel very well supported and personal. We never felt rushed, and the guides were incredibly positive and encouraging throughout the entire trek. They took frequent water and snack breaks and paced the hike perfectly. One thing we really appreciated was that they have access to some off-path, private trails, which meant we avoided long waits on narrow sections of the hike. It made the experience feel much more relaxed and exclusive. Base camp was fantastic. The views of Volcán Fuego erupting through the night were absolutely incredible and something we will never forget. There was a fire pit to stay warm, and the food was surprisingly delicious, especially after a long hike. All of the camping gear was in excellent condition and very comfortable. Overall, Old Town Outfitters exceeded our expectations in every way. If you are considering hiking Acatenango, we cannot recommend them highly enough.
What a fantastic experience. The three guides Vinny david and Rudy were excellent. Their infectious enthusiasm is excellent. Despite the atrocious weather rain and wind, it was a privilege to go on this hike with them all. They catered for all abilities at the front and back of our large group. Be prepared for steep hikes early mornings and late nights as El Fuego thunders into life. One of life's must do experiences
Amazing experience- Daniel and Willy did everything they could to make our trip enjoyable. It was a challenging hike, but we were really supported every step of the way. The whole experience was amazing, especially the sunrise from the top…. Honestly, couldn’t have done it (or enjoyed it) without this team….
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! 🌄 We’re thrilled to hear that Daniel and Willy made your hike both enjoyable and memorable. It really is a challenging climb, but that sunrise from the summit makes every step worth it — and we’re so glad you felt supported the whole way. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with the team; they’ll be over the moon to know they helped make your adventure so special. If you ever come back to Guatemala, we’d love to take you on another unforgettable journey — maybe by bike or kayak next time! Safe travels and hope to see you again! 🙌
