Construction began around 690 BC, and it was one of the last outposts where the goddess was worshipped.
>The High Dam Aswan High Dam is a rock-fill dam located at the northern border between Egypt and Sudan. The dam is fed by the River Nile and the reservoir forms Lake Nasser. Construction for the project began in 1960 and was completed in 1968. It was officially inaugurated in 1971.
>The Unfinished Obelisk Aswan was the source of ancient Egypt’s finest granite, used to make statues and embellish temples, pyramids, and obelisks. The large unfinished obelisk in the Northern Quarries has provided valuable insight into how these monuments were created, although the full construction process is still not entirely clear. Three sides of the shaft, nearly 42m long, were completed except for the inscriptions. We stayed all inclusive in Marsa Alam and we wanted to experience the history of egypt. The tour was amazing. Our Tour Guide Hami was brilliant as soon as we started our journey from Marsa alam he was sharing all his knowledge of egypt with us. Travelled in a group 3 adults and 3 children youngest was 5. This is a tour you can do with young children. Arriving in Aswan was breath taking. We were taken to Aswan high dam and old dam. Hami was able to explain the history of lake nassar. Visiting Philae temple was definetly a highlight. Travelling by boat on the river nile to arrive at the temple of Isis.Once at the temple Hami was able to give us a excellent insight into the history. We were taken to a lovely nubian reataurant for lunch which was suitated looking out at the nile. The hotel that Marsa Alam tours chose for our overnight stay was comfortable lovely swimming pool in the hotel also looked out on the nile river. The hotel was right opposite Nubian musuem which is a good trip if you have time. We were provided with breakfast boxes for our early morning trip to Abu Simbel. The Star of this tour was our visit to Abu Simbel' once again Hami was able to give us great insight into the history of abu simbel and its restoration. Thank you Hami and Marsa Alam tours for making us feel so welcome and making our trip to Egypt extra special.
