History of Chiatura and information about Manganese mines

Admission included120 min

Chiatura - the extraordinary view catches our eyes: randomly built high-rise blocks, abandoned construction sites and vehicles from the Soviet period, tattered towers of cableways sticking out on the horizon. As if an imaginary worker pressed the "stop" button and everything still stood for tens of years! The situation is saved by the creaking of old cars and moving archaic cabins, which confidently climb up to the top of the mountains.

Admission included60 min

Mgvimevi Monastery, built like a nestle in a karst cave on a rock (built by Prince Rati in the 13th century). The complex is richly decorated with ornaments, in some places are preserved frescoes of the early period. From the balcony of this amazing structure, you can see the exploded mountains and rattling mines leading to the bowels of the earth.

The best tour for lost places lovers!

As a fan of lost places, this tour to the abandoned baths and sanatoriums in the ex-Soviet SPA town was a true highlight for me. Giorgi gave us a lot of background information.

Chiatura with small kids

We had a full day private tour with Giorgi to Chiatura, it was really great experience. As a family with two small kids, we were not easy to handle, but Giorgi was very kind and respectful. I fully recommend him.

The best Kutaisi tour guide!

Giorgi was a superb tour guide, he speaks great English and communicated with me ahead of time on Whatsapp, and even offered to show me around Tskaltubo in addition to Chiatura, which I definitely could not have done on my own in the time allotted. He was born and raised in Kutaisi so his stories from growing up there during the late Soviet years add really nice background color as you get to know this part of Georgia.
