Very well organized, easy to follow and interesting. This third section of the Highway 49 tour doesn’t have as many historical sites, but we still enjoyed it! Only one more section to go. Better to do on the weekends when more of the stores, restaurants and museums are open.
The tour took us to places that we would not have otherwise seen. The narration while traveling added to the experience.
It was fun learning about California history, seeing places I've only heard about and had a less traveled journey home.
The guided tour could not be used as i was driving from Angels camp to Jackson. Waste of money! Make sure you start at Jackson!

It started out GREAT!!! But sometime midway, it went silent with no mapping. We didn’t have the slightest idea where we were and had to use Waze to get us back to our motel. I’ll be calling to complain and ask for a refund. I had read in another review by an iPhone user that the same occurred with them. Maybe that’s the problem… If they don’t refund, I’m going to be PISSED!!!

My husband and I appreciated the travel through tiny gold mining towns we might not have otherwise visited. The walking tours have excellent directions and good descriptions of the sights. We liked the stories told about the towns and the people during the driving portions. The side "optional" trips are worth the time. Plan on an entire day if you really want to appreciate all the tour has to offer. Plan on lots of walking and a lot of driving.
With just a couple of quibbles, this is the best $12 you can possibly spend on a droving tour. We got a comprehensive view of every aspect of California Gold Country’s small towns, breathtaking views and rich history. The quibbles: 1. The GPS-driven program requires you to meticulously follow all driving prompts down to the most minute detail. Even the most minor digression (like, failing to stop at the starting point and each transition) keeps the narration from launching. 2. If you inadvertently miss a turn (as we did twice), the program just goes silent with no warning. We had to retrace our steps a couple times and avoided getting catastrophically lost, but the program needs a better educational primer before it launches.
We had a great time. The stories were really cool to listen to. The pace was flexible and we got to stop if and when we wanted. AND we get to keep the audio tour for ever so we can do it again in the future. For those who are not tech/app savvy it would help to map out the route before you start. But in general is was very user friendly. We did 2 of the tours in one day and it took all day. We recommend one a day to really get into the nooks and cranies. will be getting more of these tours for sure!
I continue to be amazed about the abundant treasures and rich legacy of our area of the state. So. Much. History!!!! It was another fantastically curated tour, and was great to get an insider's perspective on what life was like during those times. I will look forward to trying out more of these tours!
Very informative and interesting. Great way to get an overview of Gold country! Loved the VoiceMap app and how it played the audio at the right time and allowed for optional stops.
