Itinerary
We set off to one of the older parts of Fort Lauderdale. Where Mary Brickell acquired 640 acres from the "Lewis Donation" in 1874. The area was named by Mary Brickel in honor of William Cooley whose family was killed by the Seminole Indians. You'll see the beautiful tree-covered roads and walkways. 10-15mins
We then loop back to the world-famous Las Olas Boulevard lined with boutiques, restaurants, cafes, and bars. We take the quieter back roads to the next stop. 5-10 mins
We pass by the oldest home in Fort Lauderdale and the old trading post of the Stranahan Family on the river. 5 mins
We gently bike along the 2 miles of the world-famous red brick road taking in the "Venice of the Americas", seeing mega yachts, the Intracoastal, landscaped parks, cafes, and restaurants all the way through to the next stop. 10 mins
Riders get to loop back and capture a great snap on Andrews Bridge heading over to the historic Downtowner, the only place left along the New River that still feels like an old-style Florida fish house. 5 -10mins
We then enter one of the most established and sort after neighborhoods, homes to celebrities, entrepreneurs, millionaires, and billionaires, we cruise effortlessly down through the neighborhood on the intracostal heading for..... 15 mins
We take the quiet roads past some of the world's largest boat storages and world-famous yacht designers onto 17th Street lookout point over the port. Stunning views and a great vantage point to see the horizons of Fort Lauderdale. From the dreams of early South Florida settlers more than 100 years ago, what is now known as Port Everglades first emerged as a means for local farmers to ship their produce. Visionaries of the late 1800s and early 1900s sowed the seeds for what would someday develop into one of the nation's most vital centers of trade and tourism. 10 mins
We then cruise along with the wind blowing in our hair on onto the world-famous 5 miles of palm tree-covered white sands, ocean, and home to where the beginning of Spring Break festivals found new life. We travel up taking in the breath taking view and the wave wall. 10 mins
From here we head back along Las Olas Boulevard, past Mansions, Mega Yachts, and more. At this point, you'll have seen what took us 7+ years to see, all in 90mins. Now you'll have superb knowledge of where to go in Fort Lauderdale for the rest of your vacation. The bikes were comfortable. Kathy gave a great tour and some other recommendations for activities and restaurants . Good way to see Ft.Lauderdale.
Our Tour Guide Rich was amazing. I highly recommend this tool for anyone. What a great way to see Forte Fort Lauderdale, Dale.
The bike trip was lots of fun and an excellent introduction to Fort Lauderdale. The route took us past lots of beautiful and interesting places we would never have discovered on our own. The bikes were easy to ride and quite fast when you needed to speed up. Our tour guide was excellent.
Great experience. Knowledgeable guide!!
This could have been a 1 star rating. It could have been 5 stars. I've settled on 3.5 and rounded up because I want to support small businesses. I booked through Tripadvisor. It was 2 hours before the tour. We were instantly confirmed via email and text. We arrived early but were no -showed. We sat on a rock for 1 hour waiting, texting, calling, leaving messages, emailing. Nothing. Eventually hired a Lyft to return to condo. A couple of hours later, I received a text that they'd offer a complimentary re-do the next day. We had plans the next day unfortunately and then leaving town. As fate would have it, our flight was canceled so we were back to Ft Lauderdale with a completely unscheduled day. I re-texted EZ bike and took them up on their offer. Instead of a tour that starts downtown, we had them bring bikes to us this time and without a tour. More confusion as they were delivered to a hotel down the street instead of our condo, but we found each other. This where the 5 stars starts. The bikes themselves are fabulous! They are easy to use, easy to pedal, thick tires that go over anything. Most importantly for me, they were adjustable for very short people. And long lasting batteries that never made me feel like I was going to be stranded. We asked for and were given a route and list of places to visit, a lock, and ended up having a blast. I intend to rent these the next time we come to town. The only thing I'd like differently is a more adjustable mirror (the angle wasn't super adjustable for shorter people) and a cell phone holder. We used maps for navigation and I had to hold it in one hand which wasn't super safe feeling. We chose "bicycle" and it led us to bike paths that weren't too busy with cars (florida drivers aren't good drivers). If you have family members that like more free form (stop for lunch downtown), hang at the beach, go through Hugh park loop, and don't want to be held to a tour, then this is a great option. Again, we'll rent these again but need to remember to figure out some phone holding system. Thank you to EZ bikes for making it up to us and glad we ended on a much better note.
Bikes are very easy to ride. Guide was friendly and knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Plenty to see and the guide is a local.
This was a really interesting tour conducted by locals which highlighted lots of hidden gems of Fort Lauderdale combining a historic view with a look at some of the beautiful houses and boats owned in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed pace and had fun on the e-bikes.
Everything was on time, quickly resolved a low battery issue, knowledgable guide Rich. Journeyed through elite neighborhoods as well as beach and riverwalk. Fun time.
Enjoying Fort Lauderdale by bike is a must. And when the bikes are electric, they are delivered to your place of stay, that they are in excellent condition, with a very good autonomy, what more can you ask for!
Great tour and tour guide. Bikes are well maintained. 100% recommended. Will be back again. Great way to see Fort Lauderdale.
