We had significant issues with a last minute cancellation by the boat. However, the actual trip itself was very good. The facilities were of a good standard but really were lacking for young children. What made the whole experience memorable was our guide Magdy who came on the 3rd day. He made the trip for us and is the reason I gave it 5*
A magical journey through the breathtaking wonders of Egypt: temples and tombs that take you back to an incredible and fascinating past, enveloping you with colors, hieroglyphs, and enchanting caves. A succession of colors, flavors, landscapes, religions, and sensations that envelop you and accompany you on a unique journey! The ship we traveled on was fabulous: DWA. An organized, available, efficient team, but above all, human and cheerful. Simply wonderful was our guide Ali, who, with great professionalism and excellent Italian, accompanied us in discovering these temples and meeting the Egyptian and Nubian people. Highly recommended! During this period, the situation is very calm.
Worst tour company I’ve ever experienced in my lifetime. We booked the 5 Day cruise from Luxor to Aswan with a flight from Cairo in early January for 14th February on Viator so well in advance. Viator confirmed our ticket and pickup point but I received absolutely no communication from Mody Egyptian Tours despite several emails asking for confirmation. So no pick up happened ! Eventually got a WhatsApp from Eriny, Sales Manager at Mody Tours 2hrs after pickup saying they had troubles with emails. Some frantic messaging over the day and next day, no flights no train no apology, just told to ask for refund from Viator ( giving the wrong contact email!) So disappointing. This was meant to be my 70th Birthday treat from my wife. Mody was still advertising the tour, but for a higher price days later, so they just bumped us off or sold our book place to a higher bidder. Do not use Mody Egyptian Tours.
The places you visit are wonderful, only the organization leaves something to be desired. We paid for a 5 day trip that has been crammed into 4 days. We had to pay extra for the Abu Simbel while it was included in the price. We heard this from our fellow travelers and what we didn't know was that a balloon ride was also included which we also had to pay extra for. We booked all this through Get Your Guide and never got a refund from both Get Your Guide and Mody tours. The guide also dropped a lot of stitches and was more concerned with his cell phone than with us.
If you’re looking for a trip that is well planned in advance, this is not the tour for you. The guides were very hit and miss. At Luxor, we actually got more information from the display boards inside the temple than from the guide. He simply told us what was inside the temple and then went on his break at the café at the entrance. At Edfu, the guide arranged a horse carriage for the transfer, even though it clearly stated that transportation would be by car. After that, they were visibly unhappy when the tip was not up to their expectation. The guide at Kom Ombo was the only one who was knowledgeable and genuinely put in the effort. The final guide in Aswan was also knowledgeable, but by that point I was honestly tired of seeing almost the same style of temple over and over again. The cruise food was monotonous, and overall there was far too much focus on tipping. That said, hats off to the kitchen staff — they did a great job. My suggesstion . Just go to cairo ,fly to Luxor , see the temple, then run over to Aswan go to Abu Simbal and that will be take care of the whole Egyptian experience. Rest is all a waste of time. My opinion , the cruise is overrated and not worth it . Save your money and just keep the trip short.
The small number of passengers and the compactness of the ship contributed to a particularly intense atmosphere. Guide and archaeologist Mohammed Sadek explained to us the Pharaohs' past as passionately as modern Egypt! Highly recommended guide!
The cruise was on Queen of Sheeba and totally luxurious with excellent food. The staff were attentive and couldnt do enough to help. Super ship!
The trip was in February 2023. I discovered Egypt. Our guide Ali was very competent and very professional. He is a kind, intelligent and sensitive man. It was a great trip with a very friendly group. An unforgettable journey!
My 16 year old wanted to see Egypt since he was 3. I'm here to say that it was well worth the wait. He has come away with a new found appreciation and understanding of the Ancient Egyption period. I think a trip like this should be on everyone's bucket list.
Tour was amazing - tour guides are very organized and always on time. I felt completely safe at all times. Would highly recommend this tour and company.
