Itinerary
White Tower the landmark of Thessaloniki was built in the fifteenth century after the fall of Thessaloniki to the Ottomans in 1430. At its location there had been an older tower belonging to Thessaloniki’s Byzantine fortifications, where the eastern wall met the sea wall. The Tower was the eastern end of the sea wall. The White Tower is circular, with a height of 33.90 meters and a diameter of 21.70 meters. It consists of a ground (entrance) floor and six upper stories. It is built of stone, plaster, and partially of brick the battlements, the roof over the entrance and the ground floor and the staircase vault are built exclusively of brick.
The monument of Alexander the Great is located in one of the most popular areas of Thessaloniki, in Nea Paralia right by the sea,It is an impressive, six meters (20 ft.) tall monument that represents Alexander while riding his horse “Voukefalas” (Bucephalus), one of the most famous actual horses of antiquity.
The Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki is one of the largest museums in Greece and the central museum of northern Greece. Ιt has been housed in a building, designed by architect Patroklos Karantinos since 1962 and it has been designated as a listed monument of modern heritage, as it is one of the most representative examples of architectural modernism in Greece. Its collections include artifacts and assemblages from excavations conducted since 1912 by the Greek Antiquities Service throughout Macedonia.
The Arch of Galerius early 4th-century AD monument in the city of Thessalonika as an outstanding example of early Byzantine art and architecture
The Rotunda of St. George is located just north of the junction of the two main axes of the city where the Arch of Galerius can be found. It is now one of the 15 Paleochristian and Byzantine Monuments of Thessaloniki that were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1988. The name Rotunda came from its round shape. It is one of the oldest and more impressive monuments in Thessaloniki. It was built in the first years of Roman tetrarchy, when Caesar Galerius (250-311 AD) was based in Thessaloniki. It was part of the imperial complex, probably in one theory built as Galerius’ mausoleum, but was never used
The Ancient Forum, the administrative centre of ancient Thessaloniki, occupied an area about two hectares in the heart of the city. Its construction began at the end of the 2nd century A.D. on the site of an older forum dating from early Imperial times.
The Church of Saint Demetrius, or Hagios Demetrios is the main sanctuary dedicated to Saint Demetrius, the patron saint of Thessaloniki
The Trigoniou Tower is the most famous and impressive tower of the wall. It was built in the late 15th century to prevent an invasion of the city It is also called "the balcony of Thessaloniki", you’ll have the chance to enjoy the magnificent and imposing panoramic image of the city hugging the sea. On a clear day you’ll be able to see Olympus Mountain located 150km away, without any difficulty.
Tsinari, part of the Ano Poli (Upper City), took its name from "cinar" Turkish for plane tree. The profile of the distict is still alive due to the preservation of the old urban plan and the significant number of listid buildings present in the area.
Aristotelous Square is the main city square of Thessaloniki, Greece and is located on Nikis avenue (on the city's waterfront), in the city center. It was designed by French architect Ernest Hébrard in 1918, but most of the square was built in the 1950s. Many buildings surrounding the central square have since been renovated and its northern parts were largely restored in the 2000s.

Georgia was punctual and friendly. She made great suggestions on what to see and was thoughtful in asking how long we wanted to spend at each location. She also invited us to add any other areas we wanted to visit. She gave clear directions on where to meet her after we were finished with each location. The time frame was perfect for this tour and gave us lots of time after to explore on our own.
Thank you very much for your kind review and for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your tour and that Georgia’s punctuality, friendliness, and local recommendations helped make your experience memorable. Our local tour guide was very nice, but he simply drove us from stop to stop…more of a private driver than a tour guide. As with past experiences with Viator, we were expecting him to give us some basic information about the city and various stops as we went along.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the experience didn’t meet your expectations. We would like to kindly note that the tour booked does not include a licensed tour guide, and this is clearly stated in the tour description. Additionally, prior to your tour, our team sent you a message to confirm this and avoid any possible misunderstanding. Our drivers are experienced and familiar with the city, offering safe and comfortable transport between highlights, but they are not licensed to provide guiding services within archaeological sites or museums. We truly hope you still enjoyed exploring the city, and we remain at your disposal should you wish to experience a guided tour with a licensed guide on your next visit. Warm regards,
Akis was our driver. He gave us a piece of paper with a small description of each sight and an estimated length of time to stay at each sight. He was a driver and not a tour guide which was clear when I booked it with Viator. He was very friendly and flexible. We did not stay at the first sights as long as recommended so he recommended some other things including a stop at a cafe with an amazing view. We enjoyed our day very much.
Thank you so much for your lovely review! We’re delighted to hear that you had a great day with Akis and appreciated his flexibility and helpful recommendations. While our drivers aren’t official tour guides, we’re glad he could enhance your experience with thoughtful touches like the sight descriptions and extra stops. We hope to welcome you again on another adventure soon!

Thank you for your feedback. We’re delighted to hear that you had a great experience with our driver! We truly appreciate your kind words about their patience and professionalism. We’re sorry to hear that the washroom situation was a challenge during your tour. Unfortunately, access to public facilities can sometimes be limited, but we’ll take your comments into account. Your feedback helps us improve, and we truly appreciate it. If you ever decide to tour with us again, we’d love the chance to make your experience even better!

Vasiliy was on time and a very knowledgeable man on the area. He tailored our tour based on what we wanted to see. He took us to a small cafe overlooking the water. We had a fantastic day and would definitely recommend him. He also got me to drink Greek coffee, it was delicious.
Thank you very much for your review, always at your disposal and we are really happy you liked the tour and enjoyed a greek coffee.
We saw most of the attractions! Better than the cruise ship's offer at a much cheaper price! Thank you! The only thing we complained about was no bottle of water, which was listed as included.
Thank you very much for your review and we are really sorry the vehicle had no bottle of water, we always try to make sure our vehicles are fully equipped, we apologise.
