A peaceful paradise of soft, clear sand and crystal clear sea, almost completely enclosed and sheltered in the bay of Porto Conte, in the north-western part of Sardinia.
The Porto Conte - Prigionette Wildlife Oasis represents one of the richest corners of the protected area of the Porto Conte Regional Natural Park in terms of plant biodiversity. Wonderful scents and colours typical of the Mediterranean flora, landscapes ranging from rocky to typically hilly cliffs, breathtaking viewpoints and truly special encounters: inside the state forest, also known as 'Noah's Ark', it is possible to come across domestic animals such as the Sardinian donkey, the albino donkey of Asinara and wild horses, and plant species of great botanical and naturalistic interest.
There will be a stop in a panoramic point called Belvedere Capo Caccia, where you will admire the islet Foradada in the background.
You will arrive at the ancient tower of Porto Conte, which now houses a museum dedicated to the writer, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, where you will make a brief stop to admire the view over the bay.
Punta Giglio is a true natural and historical jewel of the Alghero coastline. This fascinating promontory offers an extraordinary wilderness excursion and a unique visit to the anti-aircraft batteries, which tell the story of the island during the war period. This is a must do! We had a brilliant day out. The tour takes you to all the most scenic areas, to Capo Caccia on a mixture of terrain with a knowledgeable guide. He will tailor the tour somewhat to your cycling ability, a decent level of fitness is probably required even though you are cycling on e-bikes. This is the best way to see the park in one day, I would highly recommend booking this trip. If you don’t have a car, the meeting point is easily accessible by local bus from Alghero centre.
