Ian was knowledgable and able to curate a specific tour for myself and my six-year-old. We chose to hike back to Delicate Arch and Ian showed us the safe foot placement for along a narrow path with an extreme drop off one side.; supporting with key foot placements and downhill strategies for hiking. He also took the best pictures of us while during the hike. He shared his geologic knowledge and pointed out wild life we came across along the way, a tiger lizard who had already dropped its tail and a mama deer with her baby. He shared stories of local climbers who have scaled different rock formations in the park and others around. There was no admission feed for us as we hold a National Parks pass and the four hours flew right by, as we finished our tour with North Arch and Double Arch. The early start was key to find smooth parking and get the big hike done before the heat of the day kicked in. The pickup at hour hotel was smooth, we were waiting out front ready to go. Having plenty of water and hydrating snacks was also key. Having a private tour made it possible for us to see the areas most important to us and Ian's ability to engage in coversation with my six-year old in Chemistry and Greek Mythology - a highlight for my little hiker. The phone call the afternoon ahead asking key questions about interests and abilities to have an outline of where to go and what to do makes a big difference.
Our introduction to Arches was perfectly tailored to our interests and abilities. Ian, our guide, was full of detailed knowledge about the geology, botany, and history of the park and the region. He adjusted the tour for our energy level and perfectly judged the sights and activities that fit for us. He also gave us great insight into other attractions to see, places to eat, and enriching experiences of all kinds.
Thank you so much! I had a great time exploring the park with you
