A Must Do Adventure

This Tambopata jungle experience is great. There are multiple activities packed into each day with some free time mixed in as well. The lodge is along the river so travel to and from the town and many activities takes place on the river boat (which is covered to protect from sun and rain). Other activities takes place in the jungle, like the canopy walk and zip line, the hike at the ground, and the hike to Lake Sandoval. Bug spray is very necessary on this experience. The food was really quite good. I am vegetarian and some that were grouped with me were pescaterian and we had no problems with getting appropriate meals. It is a set menu for meals, not one where you choose from a list of items. It was a good variety of food over the 4 days. The lodge was currently building a new main house where meals and gathering takes place as well as new cabins. So there is expansion and updates happening. Currently there are many cabins with private bathrooms, a swimming pool, as well as a main house to gather for meals, meet for excursions, or sit and read in a hammock. One of the things that was not communicated until I arrived was the limited electricity and minimal/no cell signal. The electricity is only on for a short window in the evening (5:30-9:30pm) and during meals in the main house. There is plenty of light during the day to see. But if you need electricity overnight for the whole night, this could be an issue. Because there is very limited cell signal it is impossible to be connected to work/family/etc. These were not huge problems for me, just unexpected. I was picked up by taxi from my hotel and brought to the tour office. I was able to leave my large suitcase at the office. At the end of my experience, I was met by the taxi at the boat launch and brought back to the office to collect my suitcase and then taken to the airport. The taxis were included in the price of the experience. There is a lot of walking on this experience. The walk to Lake Sandoval is over 1 mile through the jungle on a boardwalk. Overall this was a fantastic adventure at the end of my Peru journey. I highly recommend this tour, or even the 3 day version. The number of activities exceeds the list given as examples and the guides all seemed to be excellent. I was with the same group and guide for the duration of my stay. For some of the experiences multiple visitors and guides attend together. Activities you don't want to miss: the canopy walk/zip line, the parrots feeding on the salt clay, the night boat to look for animals along the river.

Nice experience

We were picked up at Puerto Maldonado's bus terminal early in the morning as we came with a night bus from Cusco, and then went to our lodge. The first day we were with approximately 50 peruvians, as we were there during the national holidays. But then it became a smaller group of less than 10 people, which was more enjoyable. When we went to see the parrots there was a lot of fog, so we were allowed to go again the next day, and that time no fog! Also, the food was really great, all being local. The two guides we had spoke a great english and were really friendly. We saw a lot of animals: monkeys, parrots, tarantulas, giant otters, crocodiles, a friendly boar.. The number of activities available was maybe not enough for a four day trip, I would rather recommend staying three days. Some people of our group did that, and I don't really think that they missed anything. But it was a pleasant experience and I definitely recommend that place.

Great Experience and a great guide, a jungle tour to never forget

Hi all, Through this review I would like to appreciate and give compliments to one of the guides: Louis. He was an amazing guide who told passionately about his job, the jungle, local customs and everything else on the trip. Louis was constantly on the look-out for everything our group needed during those days. And we appreciated that. In the end we had a great experience and a lot can be credited to his guidance.
