Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove is a UNESCO World Heritage Centre (WHC) in Nigeria. This sacred forest attracts a large number of tourists as it is definitely worth visiting. Located in Central Nigeria, the Sacred Grove of Osun Osogbo is a forest sanctuary situated along the Osun River. Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove covers an area of 75 hectares and is regarded as the abode of the Yoruba goddess of fertility, Osun. The Osun- Osogbo Sacred Grove is one of the vast undisturbed areas of land in Africa. The restoration of the grove by artists has given the grove a new importance as it has become a sacred place for the whole of Yorubaland and a symbol of identity for the wider Yoruba Diaspora. The Grove is an active religious site where daily, weekly and monthly worship takes place.

The trip is hours away from Lagos but the tour guide provided me with drinks and our driver was really good at navigating through the rough roads. Osun Osogbo is a very peaceful and historic grove with beautiful art everywhere. It’s definitely worth visiting if you’re in Lagos.
