Worth every penny

I’ve travelled the world, but this tour is one I will always remember. Our guide Douggie is mostly responsible for that. His knowledge of the vast region, its history and special backroads made the trek all the more pleasurable. Worth every penny. Tip…choose the B&B’s. They’re awesome!

Operator response

Hi Ernest! Thank you for these lovely words. We're all delighted you had such a memorable experience on our tour and that Douggie's expertise added so much value! Thanks for sharing the tip about the B&Bs too; it’s great advice for future travellers. We hope to welcome you on another tour soon to create more wonderful memories. Best wishes, Wayne Highland Experience Tours

Outstanding tour!

Lee, our driver/tour guide, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about the history and answered all of our questions. He was also very thoughtful and considerate to make sure everyone was enjoying the experience. The itinerary was full but we did have some time to rest during longer drives. It was the perfect combination of activities. This tour makes me want to return to Scotland to experience more of this beautiful country.

Operator response

Perfect tour to experience the Highlands

A great tour where Brodie really did everything possible to get the best out of it. His selection of history, stories and music provided a silver lining to the whole experience. Also, the setup was perfect with two nights in Inverness.

Doesn’t drop you back in Glasgow

Ben, our guide, was a great driver, very knowledgeable and did a good job with keeping things moving efficiently. The only downside is that the tour information claims you get dropped back at the pickup location which is only true for those picked up in Edinburgh. They give you a train ticket if you have to go back to Glasgow which is not as advertised so plan for an extra hour

Operator response

Hello, Thank you for your review of our tour and I am pleased that you enjoyed the tour with Ben. I note your comment regarding drop off in Glasgow, but would point out this is definitely mentioned at the end of the tour itinerary description on our website as below **You may be provided with a complimentary train ticket for return to Glasgow. This is the option when we have only a few passengers wishing to go to Glasgow, when we exceed more than that we will drive into Glasgow. Kind regards, Scott Highland Experience Tours

Bonnie Scotland, not so Bonnie tour.

The highlands are extremely beautiful, and nothing could have prepared us for the sights we were to behold. The Glen Coe, the Lochs and the hairy coos - the unique and wonderful landscapes of Bonnie Scotland. However, there are somethings that I want to bring to your attention. 1. The pick up points must be detailed well on the itinerary - for example the Glasgow one being right in front of RSNO. The Google location takes you in front of the Buchanan bus station. 2. The driver cannot be responsible for giving us a guided tour and driving us around. That’s too much pressure on them as a driver - and they won’t be able to provide us with a very great explanation of what exactly we are seeing. The driver must be allowed to focus entirely on driving us around as it is very important and they have the safety of themselves and the passengers in their hands. 3. An alternative could be to provide us with pamphlets - that could accompany what little is being told by the driver. This also helps with people that find it difficult to understand different accents as most people on the tour are from different parts of the world. 4. Our tour guide + driver was doing a good job as a driver, but I felt that as a tour guide, he was not all that passionate and enthusiastic - a sentiment I witnessed in most guided tours I have taken in the UK. Moreover, he was rude to us for being 2 mins late (2 minutes being the exact duration ) due to a personal issue. I have been living in Glasgow for the past 5 months and Scottish people are very warm, polite and kind. They are very friendly and easy to talk to but I did not feel the same Scottish warmth from him. If it weren’t for the beautiful highlands, this trip would’ve been a rather uninteresting one.

An unforgettable experience

A visit we’ll never forget. The Highlands are a magical place. Each town we stopped at was so beautiful. The b&b hosts in Inverness were lovely. Kenny (“Captain Kirk”) was a wonderful tour guide full of historical facts, stories, an excellent playlist, and a great sense of humor. We miss him already!

Excellent trip - so many memories

What an excellent trip that was. We started in Edinburgh, though some people joined in Glasgow. We saw so many highlights, I can’t even decide what was the best thing - the three sisters, the first look of the Highland mountains, the beauty of the Isle of Skye or the stones of the Clava Clairns? What made everything even better was our driver/guide Ben. I can’t believe it’s just his first year on the job. He did such a wonderful job - he was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, always had a joke and he was an excellent driver, never seemed stressed or anything. Everything was perfectly organised and timed by him. All the other guides in the UK will have a hard time now cause I‘ll compare them to Ben :-) I definitely recommend this trip if you don’t want to drive through the highlands yourself and want to learn and see a lot.

Operator response

Hi Sabine, Thank you for your excellent review and for sharing your wonderful memories! I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed so many of the highlights, from the Highland mountains to the Isle of Skye. I'll be sure to pass on your fantastic comments to Ben. It's great to hear that even in his first year, he did such a wonderful job keeping you informed, entertained, and perfectly on schedule. He'll be delighted to know that you'll now be comparing all other guides to him! We hope to welcome you on another adventure soon! Kind regards, Cameron Highland Experience Tours
