The Lower Omo River in southwest Ethiopia is home to eight different tribes whose population is about 200,000. Visiting the communities of the Omo Valley is a privilege. Each of the tribes in this region has a unique culture and way of life. Almost all of the tribes differ in language, clothing, food, and traditions. Omo Valley Tours offers unique local-led tribal and ethnic visits, exclusively exploring the Omo region in the south of Ethiopia. We will assist you in discovering the most ethnically diverse cultures, customs, and ceremonial events, including the most isolated areas of the Omo Valley. Had an amazing 3 day tour to Omo Valley with Liyu Tours. I was very nervous that I would be alone at the airport, but everything connected well and I was picked up without issue. We drove for about 2-3 hours and saw boys on stilts from Bana Tribe. We then went a bit further to the hotel which was basic but nice, food options were limited but I enjoyed the soup. They had Wi-Fi in reception, which was unexpected. In the late afternoon we saw the Hamer people. I think this was my highlight. Then came back for dinner and sleep. Next morning we drove to see Kana Tribe also a great experience, with amazing views of Omo river. Then another long drive to Keyafar, the market was very busy. Some of the Suri Tribe are also based there which was interesting to see - but it felt like they were more about selling stuff to you. I did see this mentioned on some other reviews, but glad it was only the one village. Then we drove onto Jinka for late lunch and the next hotel, which was a bit tired but otherwise ok. The last day we went a little outside Jinka to see the Ari people. Don’t expect any traditional costumes here, but the crafts were very interesting to see; pottery, blacksmiths & distillery.…back to Jinka for lunch and after that dropped at the airport.
