Description
Meet your guide at your accommodation. From there, board a tour vehicle and head north through the countryside, move back in time as you travel. Stop first at Broby Viking graveyard, to learn about a real Viking woman named Estrid who was buried here. Cross the 495-foot (150-meter) Jarlabanke's bridge, built by a powerful Viking leader centuries ago. Listen to a message written on a rune stone that flanks the bridge and hear stories from real Viking persons that lived here 1000 years ago. At the Viking parliament, imagine the powerful leaders making important decisions on that very spot and learn about Viking society and culture. Continue to Vallentuna church to see a famous collection of Jarlabanke’s runestones. At the end of your tour, return to Stockholm and be dropped off at your accommodation.

Visit a Viking assembly place where law and order where maintained. Learn about Viking social culture and law. Go down to the shore of a lake and learn about Viking ships and travel.
Visit a medieval church dating to 1190 AD, visit the interior to see how a Swedish church looks like. Explore the runic inscription on the wall of the church and hear the guide talking about the church and how Vikings changed from Paganism to Christianity.

Pickup Locations & Times
We offer hotel pick up at all central hotels, ports and other accommodations within 3 km from Stockholm central station (you can use Google Maps to check your distance from Stockholm central station). If you're staying in the Old town (where it is not possible to get in by car) we may ask you to walk a few minutes to another location where we pick you up. If you are outside the pick up zone we will give you directions to a meeting place that is simple to get to with public transit. If you are unsure if you're in or out please email us after booking. Pick up normally starts 30-60 minutes before depature. Please note that this is flexible depending on different factors like the number of reservations, time of year and traffic conditions. We will be in touch two days in advance of a public tour with your final starting time, if you want to know beforehand or want that we arrange a fixed time for you please contact us by email. If your tour departs from a cruise pier: If your ship arrives at S165 and S167 STADSGÅRDEN: Please walk a few hundred meters away from your ship while following the BLUE/GREEN lines. Go past the fences and guards, and your guide will wait there, with a sign saying "Viking Tours" on an A4-paper. NOTE: If you enter any other harbor number in STADSGÅRDEN than S165 or S167 please go outside the fences and guards and the guide will meet you there on the time of the tour. We recommend that you are available on cell phones to avoid issues during pick-up. If your ship arrives at F638 FRIHAMNEN: Upon debarking the ship, please go through the terminal building. Once you go past the sliding doors (everyone else that departs the ship will walk out this way), the guide will meet you just outside the sliding doors. The guide will be holding an A4-paper saying "Viking Tours". NOTE: If you enter any other harbor number in FRIHAMNEN than F638 please go outside the fences and guards and the guide will meet you there on the time of the tour. If your ship arrives at V523 VÄRTAHAMNEN: Walk from your ship towards the tourist buses, which is less than 10 meters from the ship hull. The guide will wait for you at the tourist bus area, near the buses, with an A4-paper, which says "Viking Tours." The guide will then direct you to the tour vehicle. NOTE: If you enter any other harbor number in VÄRTAHAMNEN than V523 please go outside the fences and guards and the guide will meet you there on the time of the tour. If your ship arrives at NYNÄSHAMN: NO PICK UP INCLUDED HERE. That is due to it being 50 km away from Stockholm central station. We recommend you to contact us and decide on a meeting place in Central Stockholm. We will give directions on how to go there either by train or by taking one of the cruise buses going from the harbor into Stockholm. If unsure what pier you're coming to contact after booking with your ships name.

Excellent experience. Thor was very knowledgeable and provide a lot of historical insight into Viking ways. It was great to get out of the city into the countryside and see the rune stones. The van was comfortable and we were just 2 families so not a huge tour with a ton of people. Highly recommend for learning more about viking history.
Thor was an excellent guide! We learned more about runes and Viking life and Viking exploits and breadth of military and trade conquests. He was very knowledgeable and had a great communication style.
Very interesting tour on and about Viking customs and time period around 1080
Guide Gustav gave a fine overview of Viking society and history, as well as some basic geology. He was informed, engaging and amusing. And now we feel that we can recognize important features of runestones and their use in the countryside. The number of stops given the time restraint was perfect and we got to enjoy the Swedish countryside after 5 days in the city. We would advise anyone interested in Vikings and needing a look at the countryside to take this tour. But wish we had booked the all day tour to learn more.
We learned so much on our three hour tour. Be aware that traffic in and out of Stockholm reduces the amount of time you can spend at the sites. Our guide was excellent and kept our teenage involved and interested which is a feat.
Gabriel was great. Very informative and friendly. We got to know more and better about Swedish and Viking history

My friend and greatly enjoyed this tour. Our guide Olof was so kind and knowledgeable about the Viking sites and told us so much about Stockholm and Sweden. Our tour guide Carl made this already interesting tour, so much fun. This tour took us out of Stockholm to the old city of Sigtuna. We saw plenty of rune stones and learned about both viking and Swedish history. Carl was such a good tour guide. He had a lot of interesting information to share and was just so much fun to talk to. Tor was our tour guide and he did a fabulous job. My husband & I were with 2 other couples so we had lots of opportunity to chat and ask questions. Tor made history come alive with his stories of a family from the past. It was 3 hours well spent & I highly recommend him.
