This tour was such an amazing experience! Day 1 was a village experience in the Volta region. We drove 3 hours to a local village that had a monkey sanctuary. The monkeys are wild, but because they interact with people, they are friendly. We fed the monkeys, then we walked to a palm tapping farm. We met locals who produced palm wine and they showed us the process as well as had us sample the palm wine. We then walked into the village where they showed us how to make kente cloth and had us get onto the loom to try it. Afterwards, we drove to our hotel for the night. Day 2, we hiked for 45 minutes to Wli waterfall, which was breathtaking. We were able to get into the water and frolicked around for a bit. The last part of the tour was hiking Mount Afadjato, which is the highest peak in Ghana. Fair warning, this is not a beginner hike! Our local guides said it normally takes 45 minutes, but it took us an hour and half because I had to rest every few steps. On the descent, we ran into another group who had taken 2 hours and they weren’t even at the top yet. The views were beautiful but I was sore days later, so make sure you’re prepped for it. Our tour guide and the driver were great and very accommodating. Each excursion has a local guide so make sure you bring tip money for them because their expertise was invaluable. Overall, we had a wonderful time and truly enjoyed the experience!
We had a really great time on the tour with Adi and Salvador. Organising the tour was simple via email and Adi stayed in touch throughout to make sure all was in place. The tour was a good mix of history, culture and nature. Wli waterfalls was a highlight. We would definitely recommend it.
I enjoyed the beauty of the Volta region and the different experiences (feeding mona monkeys, interacting with the people a learning about their day to day life, learning how to make kente cloth, climbing mountains, and swimming in the waterfalls). Our driver was great, though the ride was kind of uncomfortable due to the bumpy dirt roads, felt every bump. Overall a great experience and would recommend to others.
We had an awesome and well organised trip with Adi and Yaya (driver). Adi was very knowledgeable and thoughtful about the environment too. We visited the monkey sanctuary and the local community there to learn about (and sample!) palm wine and see Kente weaving. The accommodation included was great with good food and cheap beer (and AC). There was plenty of time to chill out there too and relax in the afternoon. The second day we did an epic hike / scramble up Wii waterfall and crossing into Togo briefly before a much needed swim in the waterfall to cool off (but a shorter route is also possible). It was incredibly well organised, friendly and enjoyable trip and we’re keen to do some more tours with Adi again.
