Description

Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe is unique due to its location in Africa's oldest montane rainforest, offering encounters with adaptable, high-altitude chimps in a biodiverse ecosystem with bamboo forests and wetlands, providing intimate views of their complex social lives and unique behaviors, unlike savanna experiences. The varying habituation levels of groups (like Cyamudongo, Uwinka, Gisovu) and the focus on small, guided groups ensure personalized experiences in a truly wild, rugged setting

I cannot recommend this company enough

I had an amazing time with Darius on this trip. Before the journey, communication about pick-up and tour details was very easy and fast. His car is comfortable and all meals on the trip are according to your desires (no fixed schedules with fixed restaurants such as most other agencies). The trekking was awesome and a must-see in Rwanda. The canopy was incredible as well. I had even the chance to see a viper. We had a small puncture on our way back out of the forest after the chimpanzee trekking (Well, it can happen on dirt roads in the forest of Rwanda). Darius organised alternative transport for me to the canopy and even food at this place, while he got the car fixed. He picked me up after the canopy with his fixed car. So all activities could take place. I have never a had a tour guide with such willingness and enthusiasm before It felt more like a trip with a close friend as with a tour guide. We had such a great time together. He offers plenty of other trips and will adjust them to your desires (just google his company). When traveling Rwanda next time - I will only choose his company (and I had trips with 3 different companies this time).

No much to say, except appreciation! Serving you was one of the best milestone we had in 2024. We learned a lot from you during the two days safari, communication was super good, you were such an amazing social and flexible person everyone can prefer to travel with. Last but not least, we had unique travel experience and we hope to meet you again in Rwanda. Regards!

Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk

Seeing the chimpanzees in Nyungwe and doing the canopy walk was incredible--the national park is breath-taking and so worth it. Darius was a fantastic guide, he is very personable and funny. He was also willing to answer all my questions. You can tell he is well-traveled and understands the region in depth. Highly recommend Usalama Tours, especially Darius!
