Day 1 begins on the Giza Plateau, where you stand at the foot of the Great Pyramid of Khufu and see all three pyramids together with your private Egyptologist.
Beside the pyramids you meet the Great Sphinx, the lion-bodied guardian carved from a single limestone ridge, with time for photos at the valley temple.
After lunch you visit the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, its halls packed with pharaonic treasure, before an overnight stay in Cairo.
Day 2 explores Alexandria on the way back to the port, starting underground at the Catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa, a Roman tomb cut three levels into the rock.
On the harbor you stop at Qaitbay Citadel, the 15th-century fortress built on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria.
A final stop at Pompey's Pillar, the towering Roman column at the ancient temple of Serapis, before the drive back to the port to reboard your ship.
