GROUP TRIP WITH NRV TO NAMIBIA – THINK TWICE I recently joined a 21-day group trip to Namibia with NRV. Unfortunately, the information provided in advance turned out to be inaccurate on several points. I was also disappointed that basic services, such as seat reservations and assistance with visa applications (problematic), were not offered. The main issue, however, was the accommodation. As a solo traveler, you pay a significant single supplement, but in practice I was repeatedly given rooms of noticeably lower quality than those of other participants. This was not about minor differences, but about structural disadvantages: rooms located further away from the group and facilities, constant noise (from equipment, neighbors or the pool), poor lighting, no hot water, unreliable or no Wi-Fi, and in one case even a hut with insects. This is not about comfort differences, but about the lack of an equivalent basic standard within the same trip. The fact that this happened multiple times makes it particularly concerning. What made the experience even more disappointing was the way my complaint was handled. I was met with a rather distrustful response, including requests for proof. Instead of addressing the concrete situations, the company repeatedly referred to general terms and conditions and the responsibility of the accommodation. In doing so, the actual customer experience was effectively dismissed, and I did not feel taken seriously or that any genuine effort was made to find a fair solution. As a returning customer, I expected to be valued. Instead, my trust in this organization has significantly declined. I would not recommend this company—especially to solo travelers. Choose a provider that offers more transparency, equal treatment, and above all, values you as a customer by giving you good service and value for your money!
