Very easy day, but with many interesting things. There’s some walking to do but not much and the pace is easy going!
In September 2023 I booked Charlie for a 10 day private tour to visit northern Thailand and specifically the Hill Tribes of Chiang Rai. Charlie immediately responded to my request and proposed a great 10 day program based on my wishes. On top of my list was the visit of many different Hill Tribes. I wanted to get up close and personal with the life, work, culture, food and the stories of these people. Secondly, I wanted to experience adventure in the jungles of northern Thailand and do some challenging trekking and bushcrafting. And finally I also wanted to enjoy to famous lokal coffee there. As it turned out, I couldn't find a better tour guide for this with Charlie. Charlie has many many years of experience and an excellent network of friends and colleagues who helped create an exciting program. As a certified tour guide he also has a vast knowledge of history, biology, very good language skills and is an excellent sportsman with whom challenging and very long trekking tours are really fun. The highlights for me were the hospitality of the hill tribes, with whom we were allowed to stay overnight thanks to Charlie's help and I was thus able to get to know their lives. This also gave me the opportunity to experience their daily work in the fields, fishing, hunting in the jungle and building houses. Other highlights for me were camping and bushcrafting in the jungle with all variations of bamboo cooking, visiting a self-sufficient ecolodge based on permaculture, and visiting several local coffee and tea plantations with their own processing. Without Charlie's help, I certainly would not have received such a wealth of impressions. I can therefore unreservedly recommend him as a competent tour guide and planner.
