A 1-day Mount Sabinyo hike is the most challenging but more rewarding hike to the oldest volcano in the Virunga ranges. The Sabinyo Volcano is shared by three 3-countries, i.e, Uganda, Rwanda, and the DRC, and it is locally known as “old man’s teeth” because of its serrated top resembling the spaced teeth in an Old man’s gum line as opposed to perfect summits. Standing at 3,645 above sea Level, Sabinyo is home to diverse biodiversity and every hiker's dream destination.

Itinerary
Set off from Kigali at 4:30am, drive 3hrs to Volcanoes national park headquarters for registration and briefing about the hike that starts at 7:00 AM. Thereafter begin 6-8 hour hike on the foothill of the volcano and ascend through the narrow ridges to the summit offering you a thrill and magical vistas of other ranges of the Virunga ranges and tantalizing peaks of the Sabinyo’s top ridge. The hike also gives you sightings of the indigenous bird species, mammals like elephants, buffaloes, bushbucks and golden monkeys At the top summit, you will have picturesque views of the countryside, oldest and gigantesque rocks covered with unique stunning flora Later descend to the bottom of the volcano and drive back to hotel
