We spent a wonderful day with Paul discovering one of the Great Lakes of Africa. Swimming in Lake Kivu, discovering bat island and then monkey island, visiting coffee plantations... These are all significant experiences that completed our trip to Rwanda. We recommend!
This trip was extremely memorable and amazing with good views, good company and a great guide. Originally my co-worker and I were planning to go to Volcanoes National Park for Gorilla Trekking. However, due to unexpected circumstances, we were unable to go. To make the best of our business trip and to see what Rwanda has to offer, we decided that we would partake another activity and through looking at different activities lead us to Bernard's tour in the western region in Rwanda. This tour was jammed packed but at no time I felt rushed. As a coffee lover, I got to tour and learn from the local cooperative of Rubengera on how coffee is produced, from cultivating the coffee cherries, fermentation methods, quality controls to the very cup of coffee I am enjoying right now. Lake Kivu had amazing views where I got to enjoy a nice lunch in the canopy restaurant followed by a boat tour to the island and hiking up the island hills of Karongi. Where I was able to see many wildlife, flora and fauna. The best part was that I was able to see cows swim from island to island. The views and activities were great but the experience wouldn't have been there without our guide. Bernard, our guide was extremely professional, knowledgeable and most of all, a very sincere man. During our trip, I did not feel that Bernard was just a tour guide but instead a friend and also took part in the activities with us. During the trip, Bernard had shown me landmarks of Rwanda and the history behind it. Bernard's hospitality has left an everlasting impression and had shown the beauty of Rwanda with it's environment and people and I can say that I will return to Rwanda hopefully very soon and signup for another tour!! - Xavier from Canada
