It was a different and neat experience. It was also very informative as to how the sails go up and keep the ship going.
The boat was quite full not a lot of room to move around. We spent a lot of time getting in and out of port. The winds were light so we did not sail a lot, used the motor. E saw several seals and the sunset was beautiful as we pulled ack into the dock.
There are probably better tour options. There was very little room to walk around so you pretty much stay in the seating area you have when you board. Mobility on the boat is very restrictive with all the rigging and safety concerns. The tour is a circle of the harbor. You definitely don’t want to be out there in any rainy day.
Should have not sailed and been given the choice to reschedule or have miney reimbursed. Total fog. Could not see 50 feet. Very cold with no relief on ship except small area by restrooms. Not one person that we talked to had a good time and wished they didn't go.
The Margaret Todd provides a feeling of stepping back into history while showcasing the beauty of Frenchman’s Bay and the islands off Mount Desert Island and Bar Harbor Maine. It was interesting to watch the hoisting of the sails and the communication between Captain and crew relative to the navigation of the vessel. We had a beautiful sunny day with temps in the mid 70’s however I strongly recommend having layers as it can get chilly out on the water, and don’t plan on falling overboard as the water in the bay never gets above 55 degrees! The Captain provided historical commentary. You can bring snacks and non alcoholic beverages onboard. We did the afternoon sailing and beer and wine were available for purchase, which is also true for their sunset sailing. We appreciated the walkable location as we were staying at the beautiful Bar Harbor Inn and the dock is right in front of the property. A nice experience to enjoy the beauty of the Maine Coast.
Very fun experience. I loved that I got to help raise the sails. Relaxing and pleasant evening for us
Friendly and fun staff. Views are great, which includes the islands and mountains in the area
Great memorable experience for the 6:30pm sunset sail. The check in process was smooth, we arrived just before 5:45, which was nice for boarding to start promptly. The crew was kind and helpful. The views were lovely! I get sea sick often, but the crew was super informative on ways to reduce it and the sea was calm. A bit chilly so glad to have a sweater and a blanket!
Even on a nice day, it’s very cold. Probably needed a heavy jacket, pants, and a hat. It would be great if they served coffee or hot chocolate or something warm.
It was simply not worth it. The boat was way over crowded and you had to sit shoulder to shoulder like sardines. The crew acted like TSA agents and the short trip was not enjoyable. We had a miserable time. I was very glad when it was over.
