Alles, was seit dem Mittelalter in Zadar von Bedeutung war, geschah oder hörte man auf dem Volksplatz. Es ist das Zentrum des urbanen Lebens, eine Quelle, die Sie mit ihrer Energie und Schönheit anzieht und die Passanten dann anderen urbanen Sensationen anvertraut.
Diese barocke Kirche aus dem 17. Jahrhundert ist zwar hübsch genug, aber ihr Inneres macht sie wirklich bemerkenswert. Der Sarkophag des Hl. Simeon thront über dem Hauptaltar und ist ein Meisterwerk mittelalterlicher Goldschmiedekunst.
Zadar ist stolzer Besitzer einer einzigartigen Mischung aus Architektur und Musik, der weltberühmten Meeresorgel, die sich direkt neben einer anderen modernen Installation, dem Gruß an die Sonne, befindet. Die Klänge, die die Meeresorgel erzeugt, sind das Ergebnis der Freisetzung von Meeresenergie, oder besser gesagt von Wellen und Gezeiten.
Zusammen mit der Wellenenergie, die den Klang der Meeresorgel erzeugt, erzeugt sie von Sonnenuntergang bis Sonnenaufgang eine trippige Lichtshow, die das Sonnensystem simulieren soll. Es sammelt auch genug Energie, um das gesamte Hafenfrontbeleuchtungssystem zu versorgen.

My husband and I were the only two that signed up for our tour. Our guide, Tonka, was absolutely incredible! She shared her knowledge of Zadar with us and made the tour that much more enjoyable. What a lovely 2 hours with Andrija! He walked us around the city and gave us the historical facts plus added in personal stories from his family-oh what a lovely time! We had cheese and brandy and he told us of the restaurant we are going to for our 30th anniversary!! The ice cream recommendation was great also! We really enjoyed this tour in Zadar!Our guide Tonka was lively, curious, and knew how to explain history in a way that kept us interested. It covered not only communism and World War II, but also the Italian, Austro-Hungarian, Turkish, German and French occupations, the Yugoslav Kingdom, Communist Yugoslavia and Tito. We walked through important places in the city, asked all our questions, and finished with a taste of a national drink. A great mix of history, stories and atmosphere!

Tonka had a great sense of humor and really bought the long history of the city to life. She told us just enough about the history of Zadar for us to understand without overloading us and signposted us to where to find out more.
