A fantastic tour led by a very knowledgeable and experienced tour guide who knows the area inside out. Overall it was great. The only issue was the tour company promised a refund for our Uber taxi fare but despite my enquiries a few time I never received a reply which is totally unacceptable. So watch out if they promise you a refund when making a booking.
We have been off for two weeks in November and just getting back in the office. Your money will be refunded no problem. Have you sent us the Uber receipt.
Our tour guide Ron was amazing with crossroad tours. He was very polite and explained everything much MORE than a regular tour guide.I would recommend him to anyone.
Hi folks! If you want to do this trip, I suggest you just get a tour for the yosemite part of the trip, and then make sure that there is not a lot of time designated to picking up and dropping off other people who are joining your group who are not REALLY close by. At least, 4 fours of the day was designated to picking up and dropping off other people. You get to see half dome and el capitan and the falls, and a few of the smaller giant sequoias, and our driver Mick, was really nice, knowledgeable, loved what he does, and that was the good part. The best way to do it, is to drive to oakhurst, and stay there for the night, then spend a full day seeing and hiking yosemite, and sleep in oakhurst again, and drive back to LA the next day. Otherwise you need to take a bus from LA to Bakersfield, a train from Bakersfield to Fresno, and sleep in Fresno, AND THEN YOU ARE STILL AT LEAST 80 MINUTES DRIVE TO YOSEMITE!!! This was the second time I have been to Yosemite. It is worth the effort to visit!
First when they say from Los Angeles by train that's sort of accurate. You board an Amtrak bus in Los Angeles to Bakersfield then catch a train to Fresno so just be aware when you book that's the actual trip detail. It's about 5 hours from L.A. to Fresno this way. We were met by the Crossroads Tours rep. in the morning at our hotel then drove about an hour up the mountain in her SUV to meet our Yosemite guide. We hooked up with Mick and continued the ride up the mountain in his SUV. Luckily, nobody else was on the tour that day so we had a private tour which was as good as it gets. Mick is an interesting character who is a pleasure to talk with and share life and travel stories. He is an expert on Yosemite and and will make sure you see all the sights that must be experienced. Great guy! You will walk away from the tour knowing the interesting facts about the history of the valley and see the interesting spots. Make sure you cell phone is well charged as you'll be taking a lot of pictures. The owner of Crossroads called a couple times after booking to ensure we received the e-tickets and were set for the trip which was nice and she was able to answer all questions right away. Be prepared to spend another hotel night in Fresno as leaving for L.A. when tour ends will get you into Union Station around 11:15pm so for us too late to catch connecting train down to Orange County. The train ride home was without any issues and the L.A. to Irvine train had some entertainment when the cars were full of drunks and one pulled the emergency brake resulting in a chase around the cars by the staff to catch the person who was then taken away by police. Great craft beer available in the train cafe along with cocktails if you wish. We'd recommend this tour with Crossroads to anyone....not the cheapest out there but you will go home happy to did it.....Insist on having Mick as your guide and all will be well....
Thank you for the kind words
The park and tour guide were wonderful. The SUV and lunch good. The bus and train horrible! Do not do this trip from LA!!
Traveling in a train is excellent comfortable way to travel, sorry you didn’t have the same experience.
Yosemite Tour was great. Tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly and very accommodating. Radisson stay the night before was scary in the run down dirty hotel.
The main thing to keep in mind with this tour is a lot depends on the time of year you go. My wife and I went on this tour in April 2018 and as a result the road to Glacier Point was closed and the Mariposa Grove was closed for maintenance. We got our Amtrak reservation and hotel information about two weeks before the trip. Being as there is no rail route between LA and Bakersfield that leg is on an Amtrak bus. The trip was scheduled so that we only had about 15 or so minutes until the train left which spared a lengthy layover in the train station. The return train was delayed due to track congestion but that's not a problem in that Amtrak buses will wait for you to arrive if your connecting train was late. We were put up in the Radisson downtown which was a very nice hotel. For dinner, there is a great brewery/Mediterranean restaurant, PK HoP, which is located about two blocks south of the hotel on Van Ness. We were instructed to arrive at 7:00 AM in the lobby but we were greeted by our driver who arrived 15 minutes early. Our driver drove us to Oakhurst where we met our guide. Due to a cancellation we managed to have the tour all to ourselves. Our guide was extremely informative and made multiple stops for great photo opportunities. We got sprayed by Bridalveil Fall, which was at almost maximum capacity due to flooding the weekend before, got a great view of El Capitan, and walked to the base of Yosemite Falls, while meeting a herd of deer on the way up. Our lunch was provided, which included an insulated tote bag that we got to take home with us. Our guide then took us to a meadow near El Capitan and took pictures of my wife and I with Half Dome perfectly situated. After that, we were given the option of touring the Wawona Hotel (which we declined since we were there for the natural part of the park) and we were taken back to the Fresno train station. This trip was definitely the best way to see Yosemite from the LA area if you're not overly enthusiastic about camping or waiting six months to get a lodge reservation. It's well worth the money.

The Yosemite portion was beautiful. Mick was a great guide and Bonnie was a fun driver to get us to Mick. The train and bus portions were okay, we got where we needed to be, but some of the station areas were not in great condition.

Steve was soooo nice and really informative. He was a great host. We had a fabulous time from beginning to end. We have recommended this tour to our family and friends.

Tour vehicle was very uncomfortable. Tour operator is scamming an extra 100 from me for extra room charge for being single. According to hotel they charge the same for 1 person or 3 people. The Yosemite tour was lovely though and the driver was knowledgeable.
