Amazing experience. Helga was an amazing tour guide, friendly, engaging and a brilliant performer. The whole group was looked after and felt included. The stories told on the tour were informative and hilarious. Would recommend to anyone coming to York or for anyone who wants to know more about Norse mythology.
Jumped on part way through the tour, but still had great fun. Guide (Agnar the… can’t remember.. something positive 😆) was knowledgeable and entertaining (just as a good skàld should be!), and the tour ended at a cracking bar! Really enjoyed it, looking forward to doing the full thing next time I’m in York!
After hearing about this tour i had to go!! Helga ( sorry if spelt wrong) was an incredible tour guide who made the visit so funny and informative 💜
Excellent tour and even better guide. 2 hours walking around York on a quiet Sunday evening listening to the stories and sagas of old, each tale being represented by a different location within the nooks and crannies of the city made it even more immersive. Thoroughly recommended, couldn’t rate it any higher if I tried.
Loved it! So much fun for all of the family, very funny and entertaining. Really good way to explore York and its history, highly recommended
This tour manages to combine two of my favourite things when travelling - getting to see all the highlights of a beautiful historical city, and being told mythological and historical stories! I attended with a group of friends and our tour host was the lovely Helga the Skald - she was funny and engaging, and getting the group involved! The trip ending at Valhalla with a cheeky little discount was a nice bonus as well :) Highly recommend!
Absolutely brilliant, funny interesting and great for all ages. We got Helga as our guide and she was excellent and so welcoming and energetic. Would recommend this for anyone wanting to learn fun and interesting facts about the viking age of York. Also if you want a good laugh and an amazing experience.
Booked tour four 5 of us 3 adults and 2 children. We met our guide outside Fairfax House and was quickly engaged in history, sagas and giggles. As this was a new tour we were a small intimate group of about 10 people but I can see this tour becoming very popular and gain more of a crowd with the passion and enthusiasm of the guides. Ended at Valhalla bar where we received a 10% discount on our first round of drinks. The tour was interactive and fun for all the family. The pace of the walk was great and we enjoyed every minute. The guide was able to engage the four year old and allowed him to stand beside them as they delivered their dialogue. We would highly recommend this walking tour for family fun and adventure.
An excellent tour around york, very entertaining, funny and enthusiastic tour guide dress as a authentic viking. Went with my husband and two children he got the kids involved with elements of the tour which kept it interesting for them. We all very much enjoyed the experience and would recommend.
Booked myself and family onto this Viking Walking tour for 4pm last Saturday whilst we were up in York for a weekend. The pace was perfect, even for our 2 year old, our Viking guide ‘Agnar’ made sure everyone was together and was very knowledgeable and engaging, giving extra Viking facts as we moved between ‘the realms’. Found it to be a highly entertaining, enjoyable and family friendly activity. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for an activity in York.
