We got charged $45 each to get into park but entrance fee is only $25 at the gate we found out afterwards. So you will get ripped off. Suggest you buy your own park ticket if they let you.Was a long journey in safari jeep. Once we got off the main road it got very very bumpy, ouch! Dirt roads were terrible in park. Saw 2 elephants and some crocodiles plus a few smaller animals. Other tourists said the other parks nearby had more animals Not much here to see, don’t think there are many animals but the scenery was lovely. Shame the tour operator ripped us off. Guide was helpful but didn’t speak any English.
There is nothing to see there. Maybe a couple of deers and a elephant one kilometer away. Also two chikens.
The tour was good and would have given it 5 stars BUT on the link they sent with the booking it stated the fee for entering the park was $25 but on the email they sent the night before it was increased to $45. This happened to the other people in the party so we feel we were misled. We have requested a partial refund from Viator as they need to manage their suppliers properly
Unfortunately we were kept waiting for 55 minutes as other guests did not show up. It was ridiculous to wait that long - I had to go to the tour operator and demand a refund if we didn’t leave right away. The driver did his best but spoke no English so couldn’t provide any information on the drive to the park. The jeep was too difficult for me to climb up into - there should at least be steps to assist with this (some of the other jeeps did have steps). The guide/driver (Nalaga) was very good - informative and tried to find as many animals as possible. He did say that it’s very rare to see a sloth bear and the leopards are generally only seen in the early morning and late in the day. We saw many elephants, spotted deer, water buffaloes, wild boars, monkeys , crocodiles and various birds.
Worst shore excursion I have been on ever. 5 hours of rattling around on potholed roads to a “game park “ which consisted of a lot of foliage and a total dearth of animals. What a total waste of money. I don’t know how they can even term this a “safari”
Thus was an outstanding tour.Travelling in the open jeep made it possible to experience the environment. Our tour guide was excellent, he sought out the animals we wanted to see and was patient when we wanted to spend time filming and taking photos. The national park is stunning and very worth seeing.
Overall the day was worth it even at 70 years of age. Please exercise caution if over that age or have a disability as roads in the Park are extremely rough and your Jeeps access when boarding them before the Park gates require very good agility. We saw plenty of Monkeys, Water Buffalo, Deer, Crocodiles, Peacocks and many varieties of birds inc Flamingoes. We can see most in Oz but what made the day are the Elephants. Note no Leopards or Sloth Bears as they are difficult to see but some said they saw a Leopard. The tour was good value and even though the Park charges an extra $45 Usd per person (note not $22 to $25 as seen on website) on arrival which is cash only and you can pay in various currencies to head tour guy but no card payments. Would we do it again NO but its a must for a First time. In closing so impressed with lack of littering here in Sri Lanka. Well done.
Was able to see lots of peacocks and elephants but no leopards. Ship was 1hr late clearing customs so safari was only 2hrs when it was supposed to be 4hrs. Don’t understand why they did not give us the full time slot that we paid for
I recently had the pleasure of participating in Yala Safari Tour from Hambantota Port and it was an amazing experience. As a lover on safari tour i found this company the best among all
