Horrible! Our tour was suppose to start at 8:30...we did not leave until 9:00.The driver asked us for the park ticket money ( USD 45 pp) I gave him a USD 100 Bill and he did not mentioned anything about the change ( I supposed he was going to get it from someone else ) . He was driving very fast ... When we arrived at the Park he told us : Park will close at mid day ...we have only 2 hours Safari .... When it finished he drove back like crazy ...going into the speed bumps not reducing the speed! And when we arrived at the port he did not said a Word about the change ...We asked hom...and then he said he didn't have and asked us if we wanted it in Sri Lanka money ...I would have given the money as Tip to him...but he did not deserved it ! I always tip ...but that guy was not correct ! Very bad experience !
The driver didn’t stop for a bathroom break until we were leaving the park. Unfortunately, game drives in mid-day suffer from seeing few animals. They are all in the shade.
Fantastic! Picked up from the port and taken straight to the safari. The driver was excellent at spotting all of the animals and birds. It would have been good to know beforehand that the safaris stop between 12 and 2. So be prepared to be taken to a beach for 2 hours. It was actually lovely, we just weren't expecting it. We saw elephants, water buffalo, deer, crocodiles, monkeys, lizards, lots of birds....it was great. The keeps were open air with great visibility.
We started from Cruiseport Hambantota to Yale National Park. A 1.5 hour drive through green countryside and small and large villages gave us an overview of the country. In the NP. we saw many animals and a large number of birds. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to see a leopard. We can recommend this tour to anyone, but the prospect of safe sightings of leopards is not guaranteed. It's just not a zoo
Great morning at Yala national park. We arranged it independently as our cruise ship was stopping at Hamtantota for the day. Coach and jeep transport. Could pay entrance fee to park at the gate using credit card. Guided and drivers do expect a tip so good to have some Sri Lankan currency or US dollars. We saw loads of elephants up close, water buffalo, mongoose, lizards, peacocks, deer’s, crocodiles, monkeys, flamingos, pelicans, kingfishers. The jeeps have small ladder steps up to them so you have to be agile to get in and out of them. Would definitely recommend this as a place to visit. We booked it with Wild Dreams only the afternoon before and they were great.
Our visit to Yala National Park was absolutely fantastic. The drive there was a little nerve-racking — think Wacky Races — but we were with such a great group that it quickly turned into part of the adventure and we had a good laugh along the way. The park itself exceeded all our expectations. We saw an incredible range of wildlife, including elephants, a leopard, crocodiles, lizards, monkeys, mongoose, water buffalo and deer. We even had some unexpected time at the beach, which made the day feel even more special. It was completely worth the trip, and our guide went above and beyond to make sure we saw as much as possible. I’d definitely recommend visiting this beautiful park.
A long drive from the port but well worth it. Our driver was excellent at spotting the animals, even a leopard almost hidden in a tree.
One of the best experiences in Sri Lanka! We saw all the big animals, and our guide Ishan was fantastic – very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended.
“Our safari at Yala was beyond expectations! Our guide was extremely professional and had incredible eyes for spotting animals. He explained about the park’s history and ecosystems, making the experience educational as well as exciting. We were lucky to see a sloth bear, elephants bathing, and even a family of peacocks. The whole trip was well-organized, safe, and unforgettable.”
We had a truly memorable safari experience at Yala. Everything was well-organized from start to finish, and the service exceeded our expectations. Our driver was knowledgeable, skilled, and very respectful of nature—he explained the animals’ behavior, tracked wildlife patiently, and ensured safe and comfortable driving throughout. We highly recommended.
