Breakfast with the Birds. One of the worst tourist experiences we’ve had in Australia. Breakfast was basic, cold, pretty unclean and ran out. The ‘bird’ and informative part of the breakfast consisted of 2 quick chats with staff about cockatoos. Luckily the other enclosures had a few interesting displays, which we enjoyed.
Having visited once before, several years ago (for Breakfast with the Birds which was fabulous!), on this visit we decided to book the 90 minute private tour. It was pricey, but we loved every minute of it. Our guide Enrique was super knowledgeable, clearly loves the animals and made it enjoyable and relaxing as well as informative. We got to learn so much more in a short amount of time than if we had walked around on our own & were able to get closer to several of the animals. The included photo session at the end was quick & easy & the pics were great 👍

A really awesome facility and a superb guide ( Enrique?) who explained in detail how the whole eco system works. And of course the birds and other animals ( Koala, Kangaroo, croc, snakes provide a perfect experince.

If you really like animals, move along. I should have done more research before coming. I thought it was more of a refuge or a wildlife protection center, but it is actually a classic zoo. I was very uncomfortable seeing some animals in spaces that I found extremely small compared to their needs (a crocodile in a pool in particular or even 2 frogs in a very small glass cage) it really broke my heart and I regretted booking this activity. If I had known what to expect, I simply would not have come. I really recommend doing your research on the concept before booking, especially if animal welfare is an important criterion for you.

A good place to see the local animals of the region, and also some Australian classics like kangaroos and koalas. For us it was an opportunity to see cassowaries up close , since we didn’t see them in the wild.

Our travel agent booked for us to have a private tour. We were met by a keeper who showed us around and told us about each of the animals. We were provided with a lovely vegetarian breakfast and joined by the birds who wee keen to share! Our keeper then provided us with feeding opportunities. We fed the wallabies and kangaroos, the cassowaries, fish and birds. We also met the koalas and some reptiles. We were given the opportunity to have 3 photos with a koala and another of our choice- we chose the frogmouth. We were then able to have free time following our tour. Overall it was great to learn more about the animals and hear their stories.

Although a bit expensive, we had hesitated for a long time, this visit is fully worth the detour, for both adults and children. From kangaroos to birds, each encounter was an unforgettable experience, with the possibility of being as close as possible to the animals in a respectful setting. Another appreciable advantage: your ticket remains valid for 5 days, allowing you to return as many times as you wish. In addition to experiencing an exceptional moment, you contribute directly to the funding of the maintenance and care provided to all these residents. A beautiful experience that combines discovery, wonder, and support for wildlife protection.

If you're a bird-lover like me, you will love the place. It has beautiful gardens and aviaries for the birdlife and great walkways for getting about easily. I did the breakfast with the birds and thoroughly enjoyed it. I also got a koala photo, where the koala sits on a branch and you stand next to it so as not to stress them which I appreciate. Only a few koalas and wallabies, so don't go expecting a lot of them. Passionate staff and great presentations to learn from! Really interesting reptile talk and crocodile presentation. Love seeing the two cassowary. Highly recommend a visit here.
