Cannot recommend Outer Island Expeditions enough. The whole experience was absolutely amazing. The guides, Katie, Matilde, and Drew were fantastic. They were knowledgeable, informative, and made sure everyone was taken care of. We will definitely be back with our other daughter for another experience!
First, don't go with the expectations that you will see the Orcas or any other whale up close, but their fins in the horizon. I guess many of the people who posted pictures up close got really lucky. But wild animals are unpredictable and the crew do their best to get you there. That being said, make sure you check the weather, and then you are off for an awesome day trip and a gorgeous view of the San Juan Islands and even Victoria in Canada. We ended up right in front of Victoria to spot the Orcas. Our captain Matt, and crew members Ethan and Sam were exceptional and work really hard to give you the best of the day trip. It was over 3 hours of sailing. Make sure to bring your own water and snacks. We also saw many other wild animals. I strongly recommend this day trip!
Amazing experience! Great boat, clean and with all the amenities you could need (snacks, drinks, bathrooms, etc). The crew was exceptional! Super knowledgeable, kind, and approachable! They would make sure to engage with ALL guests to get to know them and to answer any question you may have. We got so see an orca pod, and they were able to identify them and tell you which particular orcas we saw. Overall, amazing experience and I would recommend them to anybody wanting to see whales in Anacortes.
Great Experience! The staff (Trevor, Megan, Jeff and Sara on my boat) were super knowledgeable and nice. The boat was clean and comfortable. We saw so many Orcas. How many whales you see is probably a matter of luck, but there tracking system seems to work pretty well.
It’s not often that you have an excursion where you can’t think of any room for improvement, but this was definitely the case! What an crew, friendly and enthusiastic to share the vast knowledge from years of experience! The boat was extremely comfortable, very clean and offered not only snacks, but USB ports as well, for those of us who run their phones photos and videos of the wildlife! The cost was a great value and perhaps under charging for such a wonderful experience! They allow you to bring snacks and drinks on board. We saw a cataloged humpback whale, numerous sea lions and seals, various birds, including puffins! We could not have asked for a better experience!
This was an extraordinary trip. The weather was perfect but the crew were all experienced scientists who knew animals we could see plus those we did. We saw a whale that was being identified for the first time. It was a great adventure for the entire family.
The captain and crew were awesome and we were able to see Orca whales hunting a seal. Everyone in our group thought it was awesome.
Drew, Taylor,Becca and Ethan were amazing tour guides. We were so impressed by their knowledge of the animals and the environment. We got to see whales, and many people who had dines tours before said that this one was exceptional. The boat was clean and comfortable with plenty of viewing windows. Would 10/10 recommend.
Had an amazing time and saw humpbacks and Orcas! I highly recommend going on a tour with them!
Had an awesome time with Outer Island Adventures. On our was Captain Drew, with Becca, Taylor and Ethan rounding out the crew. We saw a juvenile humpback whale, and three pods of killer whales. It was pretty cold, but a great experience. Very cool that the crew all have marine biology and zoology degrees so they are very knowledgeable about all the animal life.
