I really wanted to like this group - everyone was friendly and the boat ride was lovely. But - they misled us and it really ruined our day. We took the boat tour because we heard the cable cars would be crazy - and they can be! The day we got there we were the first cruise ship in and there was no line. But we already had the water transfer. We were supposed to be dropped at Athinios (the new port). Everyone else on the boat was going to Oia (the entire other directions). I get that was inconvenient for the boat team but instead of being honest about that and offering us a refund to take the cable cars - they convinced us going to Oia was better. They said there were no taxis in Athinios but plenty in Oia or we could take the quick 12 minute walk up to Oia. Trouble was that was a complete lie. There were NO available taxis and getting one would take a long time and the walk was very long! Either LOTS of steps up or a long winding incline up. We took the incline not realizing how long it would be and it took 2 hours! Two hours of our day in blazing hot weather going up on a very curvy road. Plus we hadn't wanted our day to start in Oia - we wanted to go to a winery on the other side very close to Athinios. If you'd ever been to or seen Oia - all the shopping and roads are more steps up and down. We were prepared for that but not after all that climbing. Once we arrived and recovered we took a taxi to the winery, where we could see the Athinios port just down below with loads of taxi's just waiting for people! Plus the cab to the winery was extra money from Oia so we really paid twice! I hate to leave a bad review but these are the facts! IF you are going to Oia - great. If you are the second or third ship in - maybe take this too but know where you want to go and trust your research. I had looked into it and was confident there were taxis in Athinios but the "local" convinced me my research was wrong... It's a beautiful island ! I just wish we could have enjoyed it more...

The communication prior to the transfer was excellent. We met our guide immediately on time however, I think there was a slight mix up about where we were supposed to be transported to. We paid for transfer from Fira to Athinos port to avoid the cable car line. By the time they figured out how to get us there, they brought us in a small speedboat that they drove approx 60 mph! It was very scary because the waves were huge in this little boat! All in all, we got there in plenty of time to meet our rental car guide but this definitely was not the vip experience we thought we were paying for.

Quick but kind of pricey. We set out and had to turn back to add a crew member so it slowed us down. Crew was nice and transport went well.

€147 to travel in a water taxi for approximately 20 minutes has got to be the biggest scam ever !! So disappointing & hard to believe !! When I asked the lady about onward travel by bus she just shrugged her shoulders & walked away 🙄🙄 AVOID AVOID

The communication with Viator and also directly with the provider was top notch. They kept us informed at every step of the way and responded promptly to questions. When their boat experienced a minor mechanical malfunction, the tour operator immediately dispatched another boat to get us quickly on our way again. You can always tell a good tour operator by how they handle issues or out of the ordinary things and this operator did an amazing job with our unexpected boat issues.

The water taxi was a wonderful way to get to Ammoudi Bay and Oia, especially when the lines are long for the cable car. Communication was wonderful. The morning of the port call we received a whatsapp message from the water taxi company telling us to let them know when we were on the tender so she could anticipate our arrival. She gave us her name (Popi) and where they were located. I thought this was great customer service. She also was very responsive via whatsapp later in the day to a few questions I had about the return water taxi which I appreciated. The 9am water taxi left the old port 20 minutes late because they were waiting for 4 more people. Some people would be mad about waiting but I appreciated this because I would want them to do this for me if we were running late due to the lines for the tenders. Once we were dropped off, we arranged through VIP Transfers for a private transfer to Oia from Ammoudi Bay. On the way back, we arrived 1/2 hour early for the 5pm water taxi from Ammoudi Bay. Our driver asked if we wanted to leave sooner and he made one phone call and within minutes a private 4 person boat came and whisked us to the old port in no time. The service and communication were just great which made this a worry free experience in Santorini. I’d highly recommend the water taxi and private transfers.
