Der Pacaya-Vulkan ist einer der vielen (aktiven) Vulkane in der Umgebung von Antigua, der ehemaligen Hauptstadt von Guatemala, und vielleicht der am besten erreichbare. Der letzte große Ausbruch des Pacaya-Vulkans war 2010. Bis 2016 war es tatsächlich möglich, Lava während der Wanderung aus der Nähe zu sehen - verschiedene Reiseveranstalter nahmen unterschiedliche Routen. Bei Sonnenuntergangswanderungen war der Vulkan schon bei Einbruch der Dunkelheit zu sehen, als er Rauch und Lava ausstieß.

Reisende werden von ihrem Hotel abgeholt und mit dem Minibus in den Pacaya Volcano National Park gebracht. Die Loipen sind in gutem Zustand, aber es ist steil, bis Sie auf einem 3,7 Kilometer langen Kurs Pacaya erreichen. Während es steigt, geht es durch Wälder, Ackerland und Lava. Sie werden auf Schotter und losen Aschespuren laufen, also achten Sie darauf, feste Schuhe zu tragen. Auf dem Gipfel genießen Sie einen herrlichen Blick auf die Fumarolen, die Asche, Steine oder Lava werfen können. Halten Sie Ihre Kamera bereit, um die Eruptionen zu erfassen. Um die Sicherheit zu gewährleisten, befinden Sie sich in sicherer Entfernung und sind außer Gefahr. Während dieser Tour haben Sie auch eine hervorragende Aussicht auf die Umgebung.

This was a great hike....not too difficult and too time consuming but still very rewarding. David was a great guide....the vistas and the satisfaction are totally worth it

Get ready to hike. I do not think this is a beginner’s friendly hike, more moderate- advanced. They have gourdes that you can ride up the mountain but they are pretty overpriced so be sure to carry extra cash if you cannot complete the hike. (Mind you I actually work out and it was difficult). Great experience overall, but beware of physicality required.
We greatly appreciate your opinion, although you mention things that ARE NOT UNDER OUR CONTROL, such as the price charged for the horses (as they are not ours). As for the level of difficulty you experienced when hiking up the volcano, even children climb this volcano. We always appreciate your comments, Hector
Be prepared to hike up or take a horse. I decided to hike. Amazing experience and seeing the volcano up and being able to sit on volcano rock and admire the scene down below was a amazing. The small group I was with and or your guide was absolutely amazing. The volcano hike turned strangers friends.

This was a perfect hike for me the altitude got to me and was able to get on a horse and get to the top. Did the hike down it was amazing. It was a great way to celebrate turning 50

I had a great time at Volcan Pacaya. The guide Mynor Peralta was very knowledgeable and our hike up to the top was nice and fun. He even practiced speaking Spanish with me. There were horses available to rent, but I didn’t feel the need for it and just walked up. The view at the top is amazing. Oh, and he volunteered to take some Instagram worthy pictures, total win.

What a wonderful experience it was! Wow! It was so magical to do a horseback riding all the way to the top of the volcano and enjoying breathtaking views of the mountains and volcanoes!! This trip is a must!!
