Piran is a lovely, scenic seaside town with a lot of history - and this tour provides the perfect amount of time to take it all in. But the real star of the day was our guide, Barbara. She kept us entertained and informed from the moment she picked us up to the moment we said goodbye! We had terrible traffic on the way back, but with Barbara's company (and expert knowledge of local backroads), it turned into a lovely scenic tour of Slovenia.
My only regret is that we booked an half-day instead of a whole day tour which meant we couldn’t eat lunch at one of the many charming restaurants but other than that, it was so great. Our guide, Barbara, was spectacular! She was so knowledgeable and capable that the trip out and back flew by. That’s saying something because it was sheeting rain on the way to Piran, making for tense travel that she dispelled with lively conversation. And on the way back we ran into the infamous road blockages but for us, it turned into a happy accident. She left the highway and drove us back through country roads which meant we saw some amazing countrysides, beautiful villages and got lots more history and culture knowledge. Yes, it took twice the time to get back but we were a small group of only 5 people so we were flexible and just rolled with it. Barbara must have been exhausted by the time we got back but she never showed it and I would go back tomorrow.
Piran is a lovely town and this tour gives three hours to explore it. While a full day tour could be preferred by some travelers, this half day version is also fine to see this historic picturesque coastal town.
Piran is a lovely little seaside town and the half-day Piran trip was a good way to get there. The bus was a small 9-seater which was a little cramped. On the way to Piran, our driver and guide, Mario, gave us a running commentary on the history of Slovenia, the landscape, industry, culture and cuisine. He was friendly and informative. The trip included a walking tour of Piran, but this was only 30 minutes - I would have liked more.
Piran is a beautiful place, we opted out of the guided tour and headed to the sea. Traffic can be heavy as Piran is popular so be prepared for this. Barbara was a great guide giving lots of information on the journey
Jure was an excellent guide on our visit to Piran. He was knowledgeable about Piran and the region and helpful in suggesting an excellent restaurant. His walking tour accommodated our group nicely. I would highly recommend this tour.
The Van ride to Piran can vary between 80-120 minutes each way, so plan accordingly. If there is a full group (7+) the seating can be a bit tight, especially if you are taller. The guide was great and the city is fun with lots to do.

Tour guide was very knowledgable and gave us a lot of good information. We had plenty of time to explore on our own or with guide. Pickup and return were prompt. Very enjoyable experience and way to see other parts of Slovenia

The drive and our guide was good! However Piran is so so gorgeous that 3 hours are wayyy too less! Would’ve been great and could’ve really enjoyed the day had it been at least 5 hours!

It was incredible once we arrived at Piran, but what you can’t plan for is Slovenian traffic. Our time in the city felt really short because we sat in an additional hour of traffic and our guide shared some odd anti-immigrant views along the way (making it a reallllly long journey). It was a heavenly city with amazing history; I just would sign up for a trip that’s a full day, not half, in case there are traffic issues and to really enjoy the city.
