Reiseverlauf

Marco is the best tour guide ever ! Ask for him by name. History lessons, multi-lingual, relaxed and entertaining.
Bruno was an excellent driver/guide. He was very personable and gave great info/history of Obidos and Nazare. Highly recommend this tour.
Nazare was a wonderful town, but the waves didn't cooperate. We learned the big waves are generally September through February. We didn't know anything about the little town Obidos, and it became our favorite town in all of Portugal. Midevil construction, cobblestone streets, with numerous multi generation shop owners. Lovely bakeries, home made clay baskets, and cherry liqueur called Ginjinha rounded out the day.
Thank you very much for sharing your experience! We are delighted that Óbidos became your favorite town in Portugal and that you enjoyed its medieval charm, local shops and Ginjinha. Although the giant waves are seasonal, we are glad you still found Nazaré wonderful. We hope to welcome you again!
Excellent tour! Amazing places to visit. Our tour guide, Bruno, did an exceptional job...very informative and pleasant!

It was a great experience overall. Our guide was excellent ,very informative. My only complaint would be that the giant waves are only during a certain time of year.
Dear customer, Thank you very much for your kind feedback. We are happy to know that you had a great overall experience and that your guide was excellent and informative. Regarding the giant waves in Nazaré, you are absolutely right: they only occur during certain times of the year, usually in the winter season and depending on ocean conditions. Even so, Nazaré remains a very special place to visit throughout the year. Thank you again for joining us. Kind regards, Douglas Andreolla Zoom Travel
We signed up for a small group tour run by Zoom Tours to Óbidos and Nazaré, with an itinerary showing guiding and free time both, something we prefer. We had a small van with 5 people — the two of us, a couple from Italy, and someone from the same work trip that we had just finished. Again, much better than a large bus. One of the highlights was our guide, Gabriel, who was so personable and had such deep knowledge of the area as well as the history. We really got to know him and through him, the areas we visited. By the way, though the other couple knew English, Gabriel could also speak to them in Italian. Our first stop was Óbidos, where Gabriel had actually lived at some point. We stopped at the arch, and the three churches, with him explaining their significance. Walking along, we stopped at a well known family-owned ginja shop for a personal tasting. Then he led us to an entrance at the wall, so we could walk about half the wall and meet him back at the entrance. Before we left, we stopped at another family-owned ginja shop outside the wall, I think A Loja do Ámerico, for an amazing tasting of sour cherry fermented only by many years of aging and not steeped in spirits. So Óbidos was a great experience. Then on to Nazaré. We drove to Sítio, the high spot above the beach and lower town. Gabriel talked for a bit, showing us the chapel, and then letting us go off to see the church and walk down to the lighthouse and surf museum. When we met back at the van, we drove to down to the beach for a late lunch. So Nazaré was a great experience. The negative was that the couple from Italy signed up for the three town tour that included Fátima, which surprised us and had no interest in. While the couple went into the pilgrimage site, we sat in the shade and chatted very pleasantly with Gabriel until they came out. It added about two hours with the drive and the visit. Viator and Zoom Travel should do better.
Dear customer, Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review. We are very happy to know that you enjoyed the small group experience, Óbidos, Nazaré, the ginjinha tastings, and especially Gabriel’s guidance. He is truly passionate about Portugal, its history, and its people, and we will be very pleased to share your kind words with him. We also appreciate your honest feedback regarding the stop in Fátima. We understand that this was not part of the experience you expected, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the itinerary difference between reservations. Your feedback is very important and helps us improve the way we manage and communicate our tours. Thank you again for choosing Zoom Travel. We are glad that, overall, Óbidos and Nazaré were a great experience for you. Kind regards, Douglas Andreolla Zoom Travel

The Medievil town of Obidos was enjoyable and a bonus was there was a group of people attending a reenactment weekend dressed in medieval garb. Our driver/guide provided so much great information. The tour also included Nazare, the home of the giant waves. However the giant waves usually only appear October to March . The area was beautiful and enjoyed the surf museum.
Dear customer, Thank you very much for your kind feedback. We are happy to know that you enjoyed the medieval town of Óbidos and that the reenactment weekend made the visit even more special. We are also glad that your driver/guide provided great information throughout the tour. Regarding Nazaré, you are correct: the giant waves usually occur during the winter season, mainly from October to March, depending on ocean conditions. Even outside that period, Nazaré remains a beautiful place to visit, and we are pleased that you enjoyed the area and the surf museum. Thank you again for joining us. Attila our guide was very pleasant and knowledgeable. We even had lunch with him at his favorite spot in Nazare. Both Obedos and Nazare were terrific. Make sure to get a second ginja in Obedos.
Dear customer, Thank you very much for your wonderful feedback. We are delighted to know that you enjoyed Óbidos and Nazaré and that Attila made the experience even more special with his knowledge, kindness, and local recommendations. Having lunch at his favorite spot in Nazaré sounds like a lovely part of the day, and we are happy you had such a great experience. And yes, a second ginja in Óbidos is always a good idea! Kind regards, Douglas Andreolla Zoom Travel
Our guide, Atila, was professional, on time, quite knowledgeable with a great sense of humor. We felt safe on the road and he provided much info during the ride and accompanied us on sightseeing and also provided ample free time to us in Obidos and Nazare with recommendations on what to do and where to eat, etc. Both destinations were interesting and it was a beautiful and relaxing day in late May.
Dear customer, Thank you very much for your wonderful feedback. We are delighted to know that you had a beautiful and relaxing day visiting Óbidos and Nazaré. It is also great to hear that Atila was professional, punctual, knowledgeable, and made you feel safe and well cared for throughout the tour. We are happy that you appreciated the balance between guided sightseeing and free time, as well as his recommendations along the way.
