I joined the tour today from Berlin to Sachsenhausen with Walid. I am always fascinated by world history, and the teachings from this tour are as relevant today as they were 80 years ago. Walid is an expert and friendly tour guide, handling a diverse group of travellers very appropriately, and making sure everyone was looked after. It is clear that he has an extensive knowledge of German and Berlin history, and is passionate about what he does. Any travellers will be fortunate to book into one of his tours. The instructions for joining were clear, and the starting point was easy to find. Walid provided us with information along the journey from the start point to the finish, helping us navigate the Berlin train system, and answering my many questions about historical nuances and niche points of interest. Yes, this is a sobering place, but the context and content are so relevant, and these types of events and places need to be understood so that hopefully we can prevent future atrocities. P.S. I note that some reviews mention not being able to take photos inside the camp. This was not at all my experience today, and I didn't see any indications that this wasn't allowed. So don't let this put you off!
Our guide Miguel was truly passionate and informative about the camp. Including the construction, running and purposes in both ww11 and soviet post war. He was happy to give you as much information as you wanted, truly a knowledgable guide. 5*
We toured the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Memorial and had an incredible experience with Roshana. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and truly a delight to be around. They did a fantastic job navigating such a sensitive and heavy topic with the utmost respect, while also ensuring our group felt safe and well-informed throughout the entire day. Highly recommend!
I was a tour guide long ago in Canada and done many organized tours. When researching which one to book for the concentration camp memorial I was inspired by the reviews. We considered taking the bus tour but based on time and money took the train one. It was not clear that we had to each pay 10 euros to go by train. Now the bus versus train option was much less. Also were asked for 3 euros again not clearly outline that this was a donation for the memorial. I found it very challenging to understand Roshana, out your guides accent (which I know happens but when book English your don’t expect offer) and at felt like I was in a kindergarten tour to keep us on time. Sorry but there was an English guide in the site as well and both my husband and I wished we had booked both them. Perhaps booking this tour with another guide would give you a different experience but I would recommend the 59 euros again bus tour.
Absolutely wonderful. Our guide, Arthur (Artie) was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions, provided a great context and historical perspective.
Roshana was extremely knowledgeable. Our group size was small which made the tour that much better.
Great tour. Very educational. Rochana was a great guide and very knowledgeable.
The tour was super interesting, but unfortunately, our guide was not very good at English. We understood 50% of what she said, and she didn't really understand us when we asked questions in English. I would have given 5 stars but for the language barrier.
Roshana was knowledgeable and very friendly. When we had a train cancellation, she was incredibly helpful in ensuring we got back to an appropriate station. The walking was fine but we are able walkers. I have given this 4 stars not 5 as we were originally told we’d be coming back for the 4:30 (or possibly 5:30) train and suddenly at 2pm we left the camp for the 2:40 train. We could have easily spent longer in the two indoor parts as there was a lot to read and see but we had very limited time, which was a shame.
Roshanna was an excellent guide. She explained everything very well. Very patient, humble, and knowledgeable.
