Short lively estuary birding excursion with two endemics followed by lovely boat ride. Not mentioned in explanation on line. But we adored the boat ride and did add a couple new species. Also Joanne knows so much about the land. Geology. Etcetera.
This was a wonderful experience. We were provided transportation and needed equipment. Our guide, Joanne, was friendly and knowledgeable and we saw over 40 different bird species including three endemic to Los Cabos.
It was even better than I had hoped. They provided us the equipment we needed and checklists to use. Our trained guide (Joanna) was very friendly and quite knowledgeable. She made sure we saw everything she did and was very patient with us. She never rushed us. I would recommend anyone to do this!! I want to go again on one of their other birding trips next time I come.
We really appreciated Joanne‘s knowledge of the birds! We also are grateful she’s so persistent in trying to get us a look at the endemic birds in the area. We were able to see all three of the endemics that we were hoping to see.
The experience made it easy to get from my resort to birding sanctuary. My guide Joanne was knowledgeable and I saw at least 40 species of birds with good pictures. Probably heard 5-10 more species but did not get pictures. Overall an excellent trip for 2. 1/2 hrs of birding and about 1 1/2 hr driving to and back to the sanctuary
The estuary was great- would have preferred to spend the whole time there or incorporated another birding spot- not coming back for the boat ride ! We had to wait forever to park the car- that needs to be worked out! Maybe have a trip that doesn’t include the boat ride and just do land birding as an option. Our guide was very knowledgeable and did a good job for the birding.
Dear Susan : thank you very much for your comment we will take in considerantion your sugestion , there was a time where we enjoyed the estuary and ecountered very interesting species by the bay and rockeries near the arch , But it is true that los Cabos has grown so muuuch beyond control that Parking is now an issue , is one of the reasons we are tryig to preserve the estaury by giving sustainable use trough birding tour and now you are part of it , thank you very much , We must recognize there are things we can control and others don't ... like Parking and by the way is not always an issue but from now on guides will sugest if visitors want to spend longer time at estuary and skip the bay portion in days we have a LOT of cruisers. Greetings - Jose
Joanna was awesome. Knowledgeable about San Jose, endemic birds, and some culture. I had an amazing morning at Estuary San Jose. Highly recommend
The tour guide was absolutely fabulous. She was well versed in the ecosystem, history and culture of the area. She engaged us from the time she picked us up at the hotel until the time we returned to the hotel. As new birders, she taught us about binoculars, the birds of the area, birding 101, and the interesting history of the estuary and the environmental challenges. We would go back in a heartbeat.
Our guide Maria Elena was very special. She was knowledgeable courteous and very intelligent. She definitely cares about her country and the environment. Going out with her gives a tourist not only birdwatchers like us a perspective not usually given on a vacation. We saw endemic birds and others and flowers and trees and dessert areas. We visited the estuary in search of a rarity. Maria cares about our world. We all can learn from her and her company. Other trips and tours are offered, some 1/2 day and others more than a week long.
Fascinating look at many types of birds. Our guide, Joanne, was knowledgeable and eager to expose us to as many types of birds as possible. We really enjoyed our tour
