Would have been very average if not for the engaging tour with Trish. Beyond the 2 immersive experiences at the Kangaroo and the Reptile experience, u also get "reserved seats" at the show but that was about it cos the rest of the tour was basically what you would get if you went around the zoo yourself. But of course you would miss the knowledge of the guide. In this regard, Trish did a great job and even bought us to to see other exhibits beyond the end of the tour like the Dingo exhibit. One thing that really surprised us was the size of the Australian platypus which was no bigger than an arms length. That was interesting as more of the other animals like the koala was sleeping or hiding. The experience with the kangaroo was pretty cool as we spent almost 20mins just feeding and talk to them. We even fed little Joey kangaroo.
Had an absolutely lovely visit yesterday. Lots of interactive displays , especially for the children. Very impressed with the commitment to research and conservation.
this sanctuary specializes in Australian animals and birds. It is located near Melbourne and the Yarra Glen Valley vineyards. A must
The VIP experience was not different from the regular experience. Koalas were cool to see, but not particularly happy. Whole experience was ok.
Jay was a fun and informative animal ambassador!! We were able to get up close to a koala and feed and pet a Kangaroo. He supplied entry of animal information to make our visit educational.
Before you book this, beware the sanctuary is 60 miles from the central business district in Melbourne. There is no taxi, public transportation, or Uber for a return trip! Once we resolved our transportation issues, the sanctuary was awesome and the experience was spectacular.
We had the VIP tour and it was a big waste of money. There was no “close encounter” at all except the feeding of the echina. The only “value adding” was the stories about the animals.
This is an amazing experience! Knowledgeable and friendly guide and memorable animal encounters. Highly recommended.
We took our children to visit Healesville Sanctuary during school holidays and had a great visit behind the scenes. The hospital was the highlight of our visit.
Hi John, Thanks for visiting and leaving this review. We're glad to hear you had a fun day out and got to see the incredible work at the Australian Wildlife Health Centre at Healesville Sanctuary Warm regards, Zoos Victoria
This is the best sanctuary I have ever seen in my lifetime. Try to watch the Koalas during feeding times because they move only once a day. You can feed kangaroos and watch tasmanian devils as well as platypus. I recommend to plan the whole day for a visit. There is a nice restaurant in the sanctuary where you can watch animals while eating. I can highly recommend this attraction.
