Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain ATV Tour von Cusco mit Mittagessen

I have mixed feelings about this tour company to be honest. I initially booked this tour for myself, and got sick on the night before the tour started. I have texted them to let them know this and asked them if I could reschedule it to the next Tuesday. Their answer was: No! Which was very surprising to me and customer friendly. So I spent EUR 75 for nothing. Since I really wanted to do this tour I have booked it again with them when I felt better. They offered me a cheaper ticket via an external link which was about half the price less. I booked full price via Viator for my friend, who joined me on the Tuesday. The tour started with the driver being late, but was very disturbing to me is the fact that the guide told us that the entrance fee to the mountain was not included at all!!! We had to pay 60 soles extra for this. This was very surprising to me since on the Viator tour website it says that this is already included! So that gives me a bad after taste of this day. I have texted them 3 days ago asking for explanation but they do no bother to send me back a message at all. If you go decide to book this tour I would not do it with this company! They are only interested in your money and don't care about the customer. This has been experience sadly!

There's no denying it's a long day with a lot of travelling. We travelled for 2 hours, stopped for a buffet lunch, then travelled for another 1.5 hours to the ATV base. Riding the ATVs was a lot of fun and it was pretty easy - there wasn't anything difficult about it. There are 2 paths to Rainbow Mountain - we walked up one and down the other. It was spectacular to see as was the surrounding area with other mountains and glaciers. It begun hailing just before our ascent, it highlighted just how harsh conditions can be. It was a fantastic day even with all the traveling.

This adventure is an absolute must. The trek through the Red Valley on the way to Rainbow Mountain was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced — stunning, peaceful, and truly impossible to capture in photos. The beauty of this mountain range is something you can only appreciate in person. Our guide, Max, was exceptional. He set a comfortable pace up the mountain, never rushed anyone, and made sure every person who wanted a photo got one. At first I wondered why we were taking our time, but I quickly realized it was intentional — a thoughtful way to help prevent altitude sickness. Even so, altitude can affect anyone, and Max was fully prepared with oxygen and homeopathic support. He was incredibly attentive to my 6‑year‑old son and to me when I developed a migraine and altitude sickness. He never left anyone behind, and his assistant was just as helpful. Their care made a challenging day feel safe and manageable. One important note: if you’re sensitive to strong smells or prone to migraines triggered by them, avoid the ATVs. The exhaust hit me immediately when we stepped off the bus and triggered a migraine. This isn’t the tour’s fault — just something to be aware of if you’re sensitive. And a quick tip for anyone planning this trek: don’t forget your “sniffel gear” — PONCHO, gloves, a neck gaiter, a beanie, and anything else to keep you warm. The weather can shift quickly, and having the right layers makes a huge difference. Overall, this experience was breathtaking, memorable, and handled with genuine care. The ride through the beautiful countryside was wonderful, but really long. The weather hit us hard with sleet and snow, but it did stop long enough for a few pictures.
