Aserbaidschan hat die meisten Schlammvulkane eines Landes, die über das ganze Land verteilt sind. 350 der 800 Vulkane der Welt befinden sich in der Aserbaidschanischen Republik. Die Einheimischen nennen sie "Yanardagh" (brennender Berg), "Pilpila" (Terrasse), "Gaynacha" (kochendes Wasser) und "Bozdag" (grauer Berg) neben seinem geografischen Namen - Schlammvulkane. Untergrund- und U-Boot-Schlammvulkane sind in Aserbaidschan ebenfalls berühmt. Es gibt mehr als 140 Unterwasservulkane im Kaspischen Meer. Acht Inseln im Baku-Archipel sind ursprünglich Schlammvulkane. Die andere Art von Schlammvulkanen sind Brunnen. Ihre Aktivität kann bei Schichten unterschiedlichen Alters beobachtet werden. Den Informationen zufolge haben Schlammvulkane vor 25 Millionen Jahren ihre Tätigkeit auf dem Gebiet Aserbaidschans aufgenommen Seit 1810 kam es in 50 Vulkanen auf dem Gebiet der Republik Aserbaidschan zu etwa 200 Ausbrüchen. Der Ausbruch von Schlammvulkanen geht mit starken Explosionen und unterirdischem Poltern einher. Gase treten aus den tiefsten Schichten der Erde aus und entzünden sich sofort. Eine Flammenhöhe über dem Vulkan erreicht 1000 Meter (Garasu-Vulkan). Der Vulkan Toragay brach von 1841 bis 1950 sechsmal aus. Schlammvulkane sind mit Ölfeldern verbunden. In den Gebieten der Schlammvulkane (Lokbatan, Garadgh, Neft Dashlari, Mishovdagh und andere) gibt es reiche Öl- und Gasfelder. Darüber hinaus werden Lava, Schlamm und Flüssigkeit, die durch Schlammvulkane ausgebrochen sind, als Rohstoffe in der Chemie- und Bauindustrie sowie in der Pharmakologie verwendet.
Die Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape erstreckt sich über drei Bereiche eines Felsplateaus, das aus der Halbwüste Zentral-Aserbaidschans herausragt. Eine herausragende Sammlung von mehr als 6.000 Felsstichen zeugt von 40.000 Jahren Felskunst. Auf dem Gelände befinden sich auch Überreste von bewohnten Höhlen, Siedlungen und Bestattungen, die eine intensive menschliche Nutzung durch die Bewohner des Gebiets während der feuchten Zeit nach der letzten Eiszeit vom Hochpaläolithikum bis zum Mittelalter widerspiegeln. Das 537 ha große Gelände ist Teil des größeren, geschützten Gobustan-Reservats.
Yanardag - (aserbaidschanisch: Yanar Dağ, was "brennender Berg" bedeutet) ist ein Erdgasfeuer, das ununterbrochen auf einem Hügel auf der Absheron-Halbinsel am Kaspischen Meer in der Nähe von Baku im Dorf Mahammadi lodert. Manchmal jagen Flammen in Yanardag 10-15 Meter in die Luft. Das Feuer in der Gegend hat seit der Antike der Geschichte begonnen. Das Feuer von Yanar Dag wird niemals gelöscht. Rund um diesen offenen Kamin riecht es nach Gas. Die Flammen gehen von Sandsteinformationen aus und erheben sich bis zu einer Höhe von 10 Metern.
Die Baku Ateshgah, oft als "Feuertempel von Baku" bezeichnet, ist ein burgähnlicher religiöser Tempel in der Stadt Surakhani, einem Vorort in Baku, Aserbaidschan. Basierend auf persischen Inschriften wurde der Tempel als hinduistischer, sikhistischer und zoroastrischer Kultort genutzt. "Atash" ist das persische Wort für Feuer
Viele von denen, die zufällig das Design des Heydar Aliyev Centers zum ersten Mal sahen, hatten es schwer zu glauben, dass ein solches Projekt jemals in Erfüllung gehen könnte. Tatsächlich sah die Errichtung des Gebäudes mit solch außergewöhnlichem Design sogar theoretisch so aus alles andere als realistisch. Der Bau der Einrichtung des Zentrums wurde 2007 begonnen und am 10. Mai 2012 abgeschlossen, um das 89-jährige Bestehen des National Leader zu feiern. Das Heydar Aliyev Center gilt als eines der weltweit bedeutendsten architektonischen Meisterwerke und hat sich sofort zu einem architektonischen Wahrzeichen des modernen Baku entwickelt. Zaha Hadid, die Autorin des Entwurfs, ist eine weltweit anerkannte Architektin und Gewinnerin des renommierten Pritzker-Architekturpreises. Im Entwurf des Zentrums wurde keine einzige gerade Linie verwendet. Die Gesamtform des Gebäudes ähnelt einem wellenförmigen Aufstieg vom Boden zum Himmel, gefolgt von einem allmählichen Abstieg zur Erde. Dies ist nicht nur eine Hommage an die postmoderne Architektur, sondern auch eine Darstellung eines ewigen Zyklus.

I have booked this for 6th of oct and got the confirmation via email two days before. So on the 6th morning i went to the meeting point mentioned here and waited until 9.30. I tried to contact the guide and he was not answering. Later they said that it was cancelled due to rain in mud volcanos and they have rescheduled this to the next day or refund. (Meeting point is also given the wrong location here. ) I requested a reschedule and checked twice with him if the next day was confirmed and they agreed to pick me up from the hotel and a guide will contact me on the time to pickup. The next day I also waited until 9.30 and no one contacted me. My whole trip is ruined and a lot of time has wasted on this. Tour operator has shared a contact number of the guide. And when i talked to him he is saying he is not responsible for the trip and intial operator, who was in poland was is responsible. Finally i was given a refund but i couldn't visit these places

Disappointing tour. Badly organised. Under estimated in duration. Suppose to be 5-6 hour tour which I purposely booked to be back early afternoon in the city. By 3.30pm (after 8.50am start) we were only half way through. I had to cut the tour short and miss two of the sights on this tour, otherwise trip would have been 11+hours. Most of the morning was spent waiting around. When speaking to the tour guide he said other tours do finish in 6 hours, depends on the group. Our group was prompt and punctual so that was not the case at all. The time waiting for the “safari” cars was 1 hour sitting and waiting in the bus. No schedule or planning was seen. The cars to the mud volcano should come with a warning, high speed, no window, no seat belt and a very bumpy dirt track. Two stars for the comfortable bus (before the old beaten cars for the mud volcano) and the nice group of people on the tour. Needs massive on timekeeping.
Fire mountain gobustan mud volcanos and absheron temple! Amazing trip. Our guide Vusala was very entertaining and informative! Comfortable drive around. Nice to know the ancient history of Azerbaijan. Unusual landscapes. Had fun with like minded fellow travellers!

The company cancelled my tour without telling me… on my last day in Azerbaijan! When I checked my email after waiting at the departure point for 20 minutes, there was a refund request approved sent at 7:45 that morning. I didn’t ask for a refund since I wasn’t notified. What a horrible company to not communicate this to a guest in their country. Had I known, I would have paid extra for a private tour. Now I will leave without seeing staples of Azerbaijani history and culture. Shame on this company and their ethics… I wouldn’t give them business as this could happen to you. There are other companies to give business. Forget this one!

We were very satisfied with this trip. Communication with agency was great. During the trip they offerd us great service, guide Tural gave us lot of useful information. We also had beautiful group of people with us.
I feel very excited to have come from a country as far away as Argentina, and to be able to know as beautiful and prehistoric sites as I could get in Azerbaijan. I loved the visit to the volcanoes, really new, and exceptional, especially for the detailed explanations that has given us the excellent tour guide that I have had, who was not only an experienced professional, but is also a very friendly and wonderful person, and allowed us to know many more places than the excursion covers. The caves of Gobustan is an excursion that you have to make, impossible for you to miss, I loved the history and rock engravings of 15000 years, like the caves of Altamira, and the guide explained in detail and in detail the figures, really, a luxury to have been there. He was kind enough to let us know the Mosque, beautiful building, before the fire temple. I was also impressed by the sights in the temple and with the detailed explanations of the guide, it was certainly a wonderful and unforgettable place. We went on this trip with our kids (7 and 4 years old). It was very nice and interesting, even for them. The tour guides (Nigar and Samir) were very friendly with good historical information to share, the driver was cautios. The lunch was typical food
The tour guide spoke very good English and was very down to earth. It is cheap for what you get and the food is great. Every stop had a great bit of history behind it. We particularly enjoyed the crazy taxi driver to the mud volcanoes.
