Sebastian was a wonderful guide - we had a great time. And would definitely do it again!
A fun, informative, and unique way to see Venice. Neve (sp?), our Venetian guide, was kind, friendly, and patient. We were a small group of six and our guide gave very helpful tips on kayaking and short history lessons at various stops in the Canareggio neighborhood. I enjoyed this tour immensely and highly recommend it!
We rated our kayak experience 5 stars, because we got to learn a lot about Venice and the history of it. It was a very fun experience, especially to do with friends, and I 100% recommend!
Unfortunately, the 100 minutes went by very quickly... Teresa was our leader and very relaxed. There were 2 stops made, and she talked about the history of Venice and the place we were at (in English). It was informative, and questions could also be asked. Particularly beautiful was the crossing of a very narrow canal, where one could gain insights that can only be obtained from the water and that a 'normal tourist' would never have experienced. A totally beautiful experience. Thank you!
If you’re sick of battling your way through the crowds in Venice, try kayaking on the canals. It’s quiet and calm, and you’re not jostled by tourists taking selfies on every bridge. No, you silently glide under the bridges. We visited Tintoretto’s house, the old Ghetto and various churches all from the water. Never venturing into the crazy busy areas or dodging vaporettoes, we paddled through narrow canals you would never usually find. Blessed with perfect weather, this was my absolute favourite thing I’ve done in Venice. And of all the great places in the world to kayak, this was my second favourite. Absolutely not to be missed experience!
My 13 year old god-daughter and I shared a double kayak, with our guide in another kayak, for the "Canals" experience pre-booked via the English version of the website. All the people we dealt with at Venice by Water were so helpful and kind. On the day we had booked for, we got lost trying to find them and our guide came to meet us and show us the rest of the way. It then emerged that I had forgotten we would need to bring our passports for ID! He very kindly arranged a session with one of his colleagues for the next day at no extra cost and she fit us in despite other plans. (Better to bring your ID the first time though, than to count on being able to do this!). It was a fabulous, unforgettable, experience, though a bit humbling that my young companion was better at it than I was!
Short summary is the tour was great and I would do it again. Our guide Edward provided great commentary on the 1-hr tour and was extremely polite and friendly. Clothes and shoes are provided if you want them, along with all the instruction and equipment needed. The only difficulty was finding the actual entrance. Google maps correctly showed the location but it took a lot of wandering around in the immediate area to find the correct streets & narrow paths to walk down to finally find the entrance. Give yourself extra time to find this once you're close.
This was the highlight of our trip to Venice. And that is saying a lot. Excellent customer service. My daughter, who is usually not very adventurous, agreed to do this and had an absolute blast. What a great way to see the "streets" of Venice and the Grand Canal. Can't recommend these guys enough.
This was so much cooler than renting a gondola, too. We took a one hour tour, and we had no problem whatsoever maneuvering along with our guide's tips, even crossing the Grand Canal. They provide absolutely everything you need, from clothing and shoes to lockers and safes for your things. Highly recommend, and would definitely do again.
Hi Brandy We wait for you coming back and enjoy another experience with us! VBW STAFF
When you arrive they supply a complete change of clothes ( and a secure changing room), waterproof gear and proper life jackets. The kyaks are really stable, there is no need at all to worry. They even supply a waterproof plastic pot in case you want to take your phone or camera. You launch into a little quiet canal and after a few learning strokes you set off to explore the canals of Venice from a completely different perspective. Our guides looked after us very well indeed. There are two main rules. Rule 1 Do not hit a gondola. Rule 2 see rule one. I would really recommend any visitor to Venice to do this trip! My only suggestion to the team would be that I wonder if they could carry head cameras to take photos of their visitors to e mail later on. Fantastic trip Guys. TY
