Reiseverlauf

As a family we enjoyed a solo tour in the jungle- the guide was friendly and even helped up get back to the hotel. We were able to see snakes - spitters, birds and bugs
AMAZING!!! We were a dad and twin 10year old boys. HIGHLY recommend this adventure. We LOVED canyoning, hiking, ATVing, seeing the wildlife, and the hot springs in Arenal, but this edged its way to the top of our tight list. Our guide (Mauricio) was fantastic - the guides all work directly for the owner of the cavernas! Exactly as advertised. Wet. Dirty. Fun. Challenging. Exciting. Educational. (Manageable levels) of scary for those with fears. One of my sons is terrified of spiders but was supported enough that he worked up to letting the frequently photographed one crawl on him. Bring a towel and clean clothes for showering and changing after. It’s not really an “optional” thing. And Pura Vida!
Guides will provide helmets with lights (all bright and working properly) and boots to wear if your water shoes are inappropriate. Bring a towel and change of clothes to shower there afterwards. Cave is warm and you will see bats and be walking through running water. Guide was knowledgeable and helpful. Options for little side detours within cave to crawl through smaller tunnels. It was extraordinary. Highly recommend.
The activity itself was extremely fun and I would highly recommend it. Wilmer did a great job explaining the caves to us. It does require some fitness (you climb a wall), so I would not recommend for older folks. The reason the review is only 3 stars is because this listing is through 7 tours, which is basically a scam. You can go directly to the caves yourself and book for 40$ cheaper per person. Instead, 7tours charges you that 40$ simply for transportation. DONT BOOK WITH THIS LINK, BOOK DIRECT WITH VENADO CAVES
The caves were amazing. You really need to be fit to do all the crawling and climbing. There are bypss options if you are claustrophobic. The tour operator was also amazing . He gave us a lot of tips and recommendations on other things to do. Highly recommend venado caves through Seven tours if you don’t have rental car.
Amazing experience. We went there on our own and paid $30 for adults and $25 for kids for the tour. Totally worth the drive up to this place. Our tour guide was amazing and he was patient with us as our kids went from being extremely scared to wanting to explore all nooks and crannies of the cave! Overall a very cool experience which we will remember forever.
Great experience. Be aware, there is a little bit of fitness involved. It was me, my husband & 18 year old son & there are just a few parts that are challenging. We are in our 50's & my son is an athlete so he said it wasn't challenging at all. My hubby & I are semi fit, but I do recommend doing the challenging parts, especially the birthing canal if you can fit. Wear really good water shoes as my water shoes got obliterated. Also, wear dark shirts/tops that you don't mind getting dirty as you will be squeezing through tight spaces & possibly on your back or tummy to squeeze through. We loved this as a family & our guide was awesome. We got to see bats & some spiders & the Caves are truly remarkable. A must do!. Also know, it gets hot inside & your heart rate will get elevated. And lastly, the snacks are just a granola bar, nothing to get excited about.
We really enjoyed our time with Mauricio. It was an exciting tour and we loved the insights he had to offer about the caving ecosystem! Additionally, Keylor also made our drive to the caves memorable by telling us about life in Costa Rica!
We had Kenia as our tour guide and she was a pleasure to be with. She drove us an hour each way from La Fortuna to Venado Caves. She was very knowledgeable about everything along the way on the drive and we learned so much. She found a sloth, monkeys and toucans in the trees which we would have never seen. Wilmer, our guide at the caves took us through every crawl space, river, and twist and turn through the cave. I felt very safe with him. He pointed out many features of the caves and got a big spider for my son to hold. He also took photos for us. Kenia had coffee and water and snacks for us for after. We had a lovely drive back and are very appreciative of her!! My son keeps asking if she can come with us again!
It was a unique experience because I did the tour with my mom who is 68 years old, the guide was super friendly and I helped her at all times to be able to pass through the obstacles, my mom was fascinated with the experience and the very good Service of the guide, the experience of seeing the bats and cave insects up close was wonderful, I like to travel and had already visited some caves, but this was another level is in my top 1. I was direct not by agency and found quota without problems it is important to call to consult as it is a little removed, you lend boots and the accessories you need, you must carry towel, soap, shampoo and other change of clothes because leaving the cave you must bathe as there are many bats and their excrement is everywhere so it is better to disinfect yourself to leave
