Dashaswamedh Ghat:- Dashashwamedh Ghat ist einer der ältesten, spektakulärsten und wichtigsten Ghats und liegt am Ufer des Flusses Gange in der Nähe des alten Vishwanath-Tempels in Kashi. Die wörtliche Bedeutung von Dashashwamedh ist das Ghat (Flussufer) der zehn geopferten Pferde (Dash bedeutet 10, Ashwa bedeutet Pferd, Medh bedeutet Opfer). Es gibt zwei Mythen über das Ghat: Die eine besagt, dass der Herr Brahma das Dashashwamedh Ghat erschaffen hat, um den Herrn Shiva willkommen zu heißen, und die andere besagt, dass dem Herrn Brahma hier die zehn Pferde in einem Yajna geopfert wurden. Dieses Ghat ist berühmt für das Agni Pooja, das hier jeden Abend von einer Gruppe von Priestern abgehalten wird, die dem Herrn Shiva, dem Fluss Ganges, Surya, Agni und dem gesamten Universum gewidmet sind.
RajaGhat wurde 1807 unter der Leitung des Peshwa Amritrao von Pune erbaut und 1831 von James Prinsep und 1909 von Grimes als Amritrao Ghat bezeichnet. Die über ein riesiges Gebiet verstreuten Anlagen umfassen im Süden von Ghat das Annapurna Math und im nördlichen Teil eine Festung.
Harish Chandra Ghat ist einer der beiden Einäscherungs-Ghats und ist auch als Adi Manikarnika bekannt, was so viel bedeutet wie „ursprünglicher Schöpfungsplatz“. Er ist viel kleiner als Manikarnika, das ein bedeutenderes Ghat für Einäscherungen ist. Hindus kommen jedoch von weit her zu diesem Ghat, um ihre Toten hier einäschern zu lassen, da viele glauben, dass sie dadurch Moksha (Erlösung) erlangen würden. Dies ist einer der ältesten Ghats in der heiligen Stadt Varanasi und wurde nach dem mythologischen König Harish Chandra benannt. Es wird gesagt, dass der König einst an diesem Ghat für die Beharrlichkeit von Wahrheit und Nächstenliebe arbeitete. Die Götter waren von seinen Bemühungen beeindruckt, belohnten ihn und gaben ihm sein verlorenes Königreich und seinen toten Sohn zurück. Der Ghat wurde in den 1980er Jahren modernisiert, als hier ein elektrisches Krematorium errichtet wurde.
Manikarnika ist eine der fünf größten und ältesten Pilgerstätten und Ghats von Kashi. Diese Ghat wurde Manikarnika genannt, weil sich dort der Manikarnika Kund befindet und die Geschichte damit verbunden ist. Es ist bekannt, dass diese Ghat ursprünglich eine der größten Pilgerstätten Vishnus war und der Manikarnika Kund dort als Chakrapushkarni bekannt war. Der Legende nach fiel der Edelstein aus Parvatis Ohr in Chakrapushkarni, als Shiva Parvati den Teich betrachtete. Der Name Manikarnika wurde ihm wegen des Edelsteins aus Parvatis Ohr gegeben. Heutzutage ist diese Ghat von Kashi sowohl als Pilgerstätte als auch als Verbrennungsstätte bekannt. Diese Ghat hat aus Sicht religiös-kultureller Aktivitäten und Badender eine besondere Bedeutung. Besonders wichtig ist das Baden hier an den Festen der Sonnen- und Mondfinsternis, Prabodhini und Nirjala Ekadashi, Makar und Aries Sankranti, Ganga Dussehra, Teej, Kajri, Chhath, Bhaiya Dooj usw.

An unforgettable sunrise experience on the Ganges in Varanasi. Seeing the city awaken from the water as the first light touched the ghats was absolutely beautiful and gave a unique perspective of this ancient and spiritual place. Badal was fantastic throughout the tour—warm, professional, and full of knowledge. He shared many interesting stories and historical insights about Varanasi, explaining traditions and landmarks in a way that was both engaging and easy to understand. Beautiful morning boat ride with the sun rising. Our tour guide, Akash, explained much of the Indian culture and was kind enough to get off the boat to explain the crematorium ghats to us in great detail. Great tour!

Excellent boat tour where we saw the best of Varanasi from the Ganges. Badal is a very knowledgeable and entertaining local guide with fluent English.
